Flu hits our house...it wasn’t flu, bronchitis

Hi Bobbi,
So sorry to hear the bad news but glad to hear you are both recovering. I fully expected posts from you NYE from DW. Get well soon and maybe we will see you in February.

Charmaine
Thank you for get well wishes. Would be wonderful to see you in February!

Take care Bobbi and Tom, Wil and I hope you are both better soon and have plenty of time to recover before your next cruise/vacation.

We also hope everyone else recovers from their illnesses quickly too.

Our friends in the two bedroom lake view at BLT, say they have a wonderful view! It’s missing seeing friends, not the WDW stay or cruise that I miss the most. One of these two is a college friend and it took us 49 years to get together after graduation, and then we sat together at the 50 year reunion! This was to be our second time together this year!

I hope you are all feeling better. Bronchitis is miserable, but it is marginally better then the flu.

AA just told us they are refunding our return tickets purchase price. We did have insurance, but when Tom talked to AA customer service with a question about the process, the fellow asked him why we were cancelling, he took care of it, Tom doesn’t have to do any more.:thumbsup2

We are starting to feel more like ourselves.

Bobbi.....it's up here in Canada also. I have had a nasal drip and a dry cough that is literally the worst I've ever had. Going on three weeks now. Get well soon

I hope you get well sooner! You have had it a long time.

It’s not flu, but bronchitis, pre pneumonia....the medicines are doing their jobs. We both slept more and I can breathe! I was able to move our post cruise stay at VB to February which will be a welcomed reprieve from Cape May winter!

We are in our 70’s and get insurance early to cover pre conditions! Never expected this.

Just want to rest. Tom and I are both improving. We slept in different rooms last night, and Gus, our dog, spent much of the night going back and forth from rooms. He will be happy when things are back to normal, too!

Bobbi
What insurance do you use? Was it for the cruise or DVC stays too? Please get better!!

We had American Airlines insurance through Allianz...the cruise insurance was from DCL. I do not have DVC insurance this year, but I would not cancel, I had guests at BLT, and they went.

Right ..bronchitis it was for both of us DH 77 and myself 72....no flu shots....He gets something every year..I am never sick....maybe 8 yrs ago....He got meds right away I waited 4 days...ugh! mistake....I coughed for 2 weeks, finally felt better and less coughing the 3rd week....Sorry to whomever missed there trips...Thankfully we dont leave for WDW till Jan22 !!!

Just remeber flu shots prevent or lessen the flu type A and B. Flu shots do nothing to stop the common cold, bronchitis, strep, etc.

Our whole family had the nasty upper respiratory that’s going around. We’re in the SE. It felt as bad as the flu but no fever. Nearly bed ridden 3-4 days then another 3-4 that just feels like a really bad cold.

My wife is a pulmonary NP who sets me straight a lot on these things : )

I’ve been thinking of you @bobbiwoz. We arrived Dec 31 & I started coughing the evening of the 2nd, then chills & headache & earache. DD started coughing the 3rd & DS had chills & a headache yesterday. Luckily I came prepared with a whole pharmacopoeia :thumbsup2

There are so many people coughing here. It was a good decision to stay home. It’s sad to be sick in your happy place

I sure do hope everyone is on the mend.
We ve had 2 dr visits, 2 walk in urgent care visits when dr was closed and yesterday ...an ER visit.
One awful visit for my son who has been sick since 12/24. Started with a high temp, throat discomfort into a full body rash, abnormal urine, fluctuating temps, ear pain , and Severe throat and mouth pain and swelling.
One Z pac later. It’s been Awful. Unable to eat and trying to get liquids in to avoid dehydration.
Told Viral.. and allergic reaction ( rash) to antibiotic given 8 days before post implant/ bone graft.
Viral...all over SW Florida per drs and ER.
Tested for strep ( quick) twice with labs twice, both negative despite the white dots, redness, swelling. Tested for mono, also negative. Blood work done twice. Numbers skewed ( which they say consistent with viral) now shows normal white count.

Ultimately the ER was prompted by being unable to get liquids in/meds and severe throat issues.
So IV fluids, IV steroid with pain meds and I’m Praying he’s finally on the way to full mend. He Was able to rest post ER, actually sleep so that was good and take in some soup n water yesterday.. even some turkey rolled up. It’s been Absolutely Awful :(

My very nasty head cold all but a bit over thankfully and hubby well ( he insists it was all the fresh garlic and alcohol .. as the primary care giver for us both thru this, ...whatever it was.. it worked! )
So.... we are all looking and wishing for Much Better Days Ahead ( to you/rs) with Great Health, please Lord!

Enjoy your upcoming trip. Ours begins Jan 31. We are in the second week of coughing, it has lessened, but we are not better yet!

BLT, DCL Cruise for NYE and a VB stay has been cancelled. Our friends will enjoy BLT, they can really spread out.:goodvibes

Yes we have insurance, but it’s a disappointment. Yes, we both got the senior flu shot...did not work last year either.

Shucks.

Bobbi

Bobbi, I just saw this, and I'm so sorry for you. I'm also hoping that you and Tom are feeling much better now. Continued prayers and good wishes for your continued improvement.
