Flowers and Star Wars and Harry, oh my! TR started, link inside!

After our December 1997 trip we did not visit Disney for many years. During the ten year span between trips lots of things happened. Mom and Dad got divorced, we moved back to Canada and Alek and I started our post-secondary education.

In August of 2006 I was sitting at work one day bored out of my mind. When I am bored I like to go online and plan out vacations to all sorts of places. That day I thought I would check out Walt Disney World, and that ladies and gentlemen, is how my current WDW obsession began. I was easily able to get my family to agree to a trip and we set the date for the beginning of July 2007.

We(I) made lots of changes to the trip, the final result was one week at the Wilderness Lodge in an Inner Courtyard View room with the Dining Plan, Park Hopper, and Water Parks option. Sounds expensive right? Nope! Thanks to the Dis I was able to snag a really good deal where I got all of that for only $3000! We were there from June 30th-July 7th, you probably think we were crazy for going over the Fourth but it was actually really great! I used Tour Guide Mike and the crowds were no problem at all.

This is also the first trip for which I wrote a trip report. Here's the link if you care to read it. Our Funfilled Action Packed Trip to Disney over the Fourth of July

Here are some pictorial highlights from the trip.

Thank you for the memories! I also remember that this trip was in celebration of Erich graduating from HS. What a great way to celebrate. Maybe our next trip to Disney will be for your graduation in a several years or for my 50th:rolleyes1:idea:

I love how the boys are acting up and having fun in all the pictures.....except with Alice....he looks like he's on his best behavior! :thumbsup2

Hi Lessa,
How did I miss you started a pre trip report?! So happy you are planning a trip for May. I bet CSR will be perfect for your family. I would rather have the two week long trip than stay deluxe. I have enjoyed looking at your past trip cs again too.

 That's them, they are total goof balls. They on occasion take a break from the joking around to take a nice (normal) family photo.

Hi Nichole! I agree, two weeks at a mod vs Deluxe for one week is a good exchange. CSR is very "deluxe-like" with the rooms, the gym, the pool area. It seems to be the "it" property ever since people have started to hear about the new rooms. I have noticed that more and more people are booking it.

Was that really 2007? I remember your TR (it was fabulous) and it feels like it was not nearly that long ago!

I know the feeling, time flies by so quickly! I remember as a kid how days would stretch on forever and now it seems like there is never enough time.

Yikes, just attempted a run after two and half weeks of inactivity (thanks to a leg injury and then a cold) and it was tough! Further reason why it is important that I utilize that jogging path and gym during my two weeks at CSR. Honestly, I think I am still getting over my cold which is why it was so tough, made it harder to breathe.

I was supposed to run tonight, but decided to be lazy instead. :guilty:

Saturday, I begin training for a half marathon, so I need to stop with the excuses!

Can you remind me why you chose CSR? My mom and I decided to upgrade to moderate for our trip, and I am very intrigued by CSR.

There were a few reasons.

The most important factors were the Queen beds, for a two week stay I wanted that extra room. The other mods only offer double beds at the moment.

The room also comes with a mini-fridge which is great as we plan on stocking up on food at the grocery store and is also great for storing snacks that we may bring back from the park. There is also the possibility of a free microwave for the room if there are any available upon check-in, I don't think any other resorts offer that. :thumbsup2

The rooms are newly renovated and the look of them was just appealing to me. I especially like the sliding doors that close off the sink and bathroom area from the rest of the room, allows for a bit more privacy and they look nicer than the curtains that serve that function in the other mods.

The pool area and quiet pools look nice and I plan on spending lots of time there!

The gym and jogging track were a bonus, the only mod to offer a gym to its guests thanks to the attached convention centre.

I also just like the looks of the resort as a whole.

I also lined it up next to the other mods. POR is apparently in really rough shape right now and in need of a serious renovation. CBR has the new pool area but only some of the rooms are recently renovated and you have to pay extra for them (Nemo, Pirate). POFQ just didn't appeal to me. On top of all that, CSR just had more to offer and for the same price as the other resorts.

Also to consider, if you will be using Disney Transportation, CSR does not share buses with any other resort. :thumbsup2

Hope that helps!

Make sure you request not to have the Ranchos section if you plan on using mugs or going to the main building for food and stuff, ranchos is FAR!

Yeah, Mom has been harassing me to to call Disney up to put in our room requests because she doesn't want to stay in Ranchos. I'm thinking I'll request Casitas or Cabanas, top floor.

I don't think we will do mugs this trip, we have done them in the past and barely used them and with a mini-fridge in the room we will probably just buy drinks from the grocery store.

Also you get deluxe toiletries :goodvibes

I'm seriously thinking of moving to CSR.
I like the idea of walking to Epcot, and being on the Boardwalk,
but the price isn't justifying it.
I was thinking of giving my sisters the beds and using the pull-out,
but after this past week, I will never sleep on a pull out. I am going to pack my own pillow too. 2 rooms at CSR almost equals the price of The Yacht club.

Well, you should be a salesperson for CSR because now I want to switch to CSR!

I'm going to run it past my mom.

Thanks, Lessa! :goodvibes

Great PTR! I love all the old Disney pictures. We love Coronado Springs. I have always found the value resorts to be just okay, but the moderates seem to have more a magical feel to me. I hope you guys will be happy with Coronado Springs.

I loved looking at all the old Disney photos. And I appreciate your brother's candor in revealing the truth about your family. :lmao:

I have a good feeling about CSR, I'm actually looking forward to staying there so hopefully that will help make it more "magical".
