is there a limit to how many times a child can be signed up for flounder's? i know the 2 hour minimum, but what about # of times they go there? we plan on having dinner at palo & brunch there as well. so it'd be 2 times. would that be a problem? thank you in advance! :wave2:

We will be on the Magic 7/10/04 with our family. Since we 'll have a 12 month Grandaughter I've been reading all the posts about Flounders. The way I understand it is Embarkation Day you can sign up for two res, then the next day it's up for grabs. The first day they want to give everyone an opportunity to make two res, but after that it's first come first served. So as long as there are slots available you could make as many res as you want. PLEASE correct me if this is wrong !

for the info! good to know! i hope i am able to get the times we want! :wave2:

Actually when you first sign up at Flounders you have the opportunity to ask for up to THREE times at first. Usually these first three times are guaranteed, since they only allow three per family at first. You can request additional times at this time, but you aren't guaranteed those, and they are on a space available basis.

We were on the New Year's cruise this past year. We were able to sign up for 3 times on the first day but we ended up using Flounder's every day for a few hours. After the first day we would ask if they had any opening for times that we would like. Sometime sthat we even offer to extend our times when we had booked for a couple hours and our DS(5 months at the time)was having such a good time. The counselors were wonderful and very accomadating.

DD the CM says to be sure to tell them when you request your ressies for Flounder's what times you have ressies for Palo. They try to accomodate those.

Hey rsjj,

Just noticed that you're almost GONE. Have a great time.

If you're on the Magic and get a chance, say hi to Robyn(USA) in the Club. She's my very special DD.

CM_Mom-oh my gosh!! We loved your DD!!!!!!! She was (is) soooo sweet! She gave us an extra pillow case for our DS2, after our DS4 visited the Club and got the pillow case. She even let us have some markers so we can take them back to our stateroom & color them! And without even asking, she remembered our DS2, when they were passing out the Magic t-shirts for the show for the kids at the last day! And she handed one for us! It's people like her that makes it so special & magical! :wave2:

I'm kind of partial to Robyn myself and I'm always glad to hear that she's continuing to be the considerate person I've always known her to be. Hope you told Disney in your evaluation about her. Any comments that mention a CM by name go in their permanent record.

How did Flounder's work out for you? I know you had questions before you left.

Reine

yes, we did mention her, and Nick from the club.

as for flounder's reef, it turned out great! our DS2 loved being there. he was only there 2 days, for 2 hours each. and we got the ressies, no problem! so my DH and i were able to enjoy a nice brunch one day, and a nice dinner another day!

i hope i'm not too forward in asking this, but does your DD (or the counselors at the club, in general) get anything in the forms of "gratuities"? when we asked guest services how we can tip the counselors (both at the club & at flounders' reef), since they took such good care of our children, guest services said that they are on a salary base, and doesn't require a tip. or maybe you've heard something your DD got that she's really appreciated...since we've rebooked and would really want to do something special for all those special counselors that made our sons feel special! hope i'm making sense here. anyways, any tip would be greatly appreciated! :wave2:

I'm so glad Flounder's worked out for you. I know how important those short breaks can be when you have little ones.

It's very kind of you to think about "gratuities". International phone cards, Wal Mart gift cards, chocolates or a just note with a lollipop are all things that would be appreciated by the counselors depending on what you wanted to do. It's definitely not required and I think it's more the thought that counts since they all love working with the kids.

She usually calls me on Saturdays from her cell phone and about half the time she's at WalMart picking up film or some other necessity so I know they shop there.

Hope this helps and glad to see I'm not the only night owl.

for the quick reply & your suggestions! wal mart is good! i guess they do need everyday type stuff...

again, we had a wonderful time on the magic, and really enjoyed meeting your DD!!!!!!!!!!! i told my DH that i "met" Robyn's mom here on the dis boards! i'm just so excited!

anyways, have a great time in a month! please say hello to her! (not sure if she'll remember us, but our son's name is Justin, and she gave us markers for our little one (Jayden) to color...maybe that might trigger something!) :wave2:

She called this morning from St. Thomas and yes she does remember you. Cingular has service in St. Thomas so she usually gives me a short call when the Magic is there. She didn't think she'd done anything special but said your little one was close enough to three to know that his big brother got neat stuff so she didn't want him to feel bad.

Hope reality isn't too much of a jolt after the Magic.
