The computer models are within the cone -the black line is just a median line of reference as this is what threw everyone off last year regarding Charley. The highest probability is for it to exit somewhere around Broward and Palm Beach but that's really irrelevant at this time because it seems the worst weather will be where the hurricane interacts with the cold front. They expect a lot of tornadoes with this system and as some of the bands are begining to make landfall it's obviously already happening. None of these models show the system exiting near Brevard county.

I was wondering about that. I just checked their website a second ago and it says they will be operating as usual. Maybe they havent had a chance to update it yet.

floridafam--does his company have a hurricane hotline or e-mail access. Hubby just got the word in the past hour that his company (employs several thousand) will be shut down (via e-mail).

Mark and I are currently hanging out in the walk-in closet. Thinking that we might just lay down some billets and spend the night here. It's the only room with no windows/interior room in the entire house. I put my girlies in an airline cargo approved carrier, hoping that if we do take a hit and something falls on them they'll be less likely to be crushed in that than a regular wire cage.

This is a bit scarey.

My friends from Key West decided to stay put earlier today. I'm very worried about them as well. I think it's going to be a long night...

Tons of lightning & pouring rain about an hour ago or so now; my rain gauge measured .20, but how accurate it is, I can't say since the batteries decided to die just as the storm started.

Looks like it must've been a band because things are calm again already, but I know there'll be more to come.

I hate the tornado warnings much more than the hurricane!

Checking in from Sarasota

We're starting to get some significant but short lived rain bands. Rains really, really, really hard for like 20 minutes and then tapers off and stops. We've had about 3 of these since 6pm or so. I'm really not expecting too much trouble here....it's too far south of us. Some wind and rain, sure, but I'm hoping no significant problems.

DH hasn't heard from his work yet..nor will he call his boss. He says he'll see what it's like in the morning and decide then. CRAZY...he'd be leaving the house at 7:45am right in the midst of the worst weather we'll get tomorrow!
