Florida Welcome Center

when u drive down to disney, do u make a stop by the welcome centre?? we usually go just to grab pamplets and release our excitement that we made it to FL. (Also love when they had that disney welcome centre too but its not there no more )

O this yr we r flying so we wont make a trip there this may..

The Disney Information Center in Ocala is indeed long-gone. But the State of Florida does still operates "Welcome Stations" at state entrances along I-95, I-75 and I-10. Lots of brochures, maps & of course a free glass of OJ!

When did the Ocala welcome center close? It's been 6 years since our visit, and we LOVED to stop there when we drove.

As you can see by my user name (Ocalla, because ocala with 1 "L" was already taken on another website!!!). It's the first place my DH saw on our way to our honeymoon. After stopping there he couldn't WAIT to get to the parks.

What a bummer.

Ocalla, I'm not sure when it closed, but it's been more than 6 years ago. I never heard an official explanation but I think by the late 90's more and more people flew into Orlando versus driving. With the advent of the internet, it became very easy to book Disney packages on-line. The whole purpose of the Disney Information Center in Ocala was to sell tourists multi-day packages and book them into Disney hotels. "Disney Radio" up near Lake City greeted southbound traffic and steered them to the Information Center. I think the expense of the center was no longer justified.
