We won't have a car so driving to Walmart isn't an option. Also would prefer not to spend a fortune on bottled water in the parks.
What does that leave us with to stay hydrated since I don't think my two will touch Florida water. Tastes too chemical for me even. If we take squash does it remove the taste?

Counting down to 14th May!

There's a thread on the TPAS board about the same thing, and lots of people are vouching that water bottles with built in filters work. Might be another option (if packing squash ends up too heavy/unviable).

I have no idea where you are staying but here is an idea?

Take an empty 2 lt bottle with you then Re fill from water fountains.

OR

Find a Publix , CVS or Other Stores and Buy a number of 1 gallon

water bottles and re fill the 2 liter bottles from this.

You can also take the empty 1 gallon bottles Back to the shops

Publix & Walmart and RE fill these at a cheaper cost .

The water does taste funny BUT it is said that it is more cleaner than..... ?

You can buy Brita Bobble bottles for about £8, or a Fill & Go from Argos for around £15, we buy the Canadian equivalent and the water is fine with them

where are you staying? If you are on resort then just nip across to the Hess Garage at DTD and get your bottled water from there. Or catch the Lynx bus 56 from TTC to Walmart. Its quick and cheap.:)

A few options:

9 out of 10 water fountains taste bad, just the odd one thats OK.

Ask anywhere thats serves food and drink for cups of iced water, they all give you it free. Down in Busch gardens last year it was so hot we drank cups and cups full, just kept going back for more.

Opposite DTD is a Hess garage, many buy drinks & food from there.

Get a delivery from Garden Grocer, minimum order $40 + $14 delivery ($2 if over $200 spend) but you can get 24 bottles of water as low as $6.99 https://www.gardengrocer.com/products/index/1/154-store-brand-spring-water-24ct-of-16-9oz-bottles

You must have a very sensitive palate, I come from Scotland and find English water pretty disgusting , especialialy in the far south but have never noticed the water in Florida to be especialy nasty!

I think a lot of people complain about Florida water - even the US nationals!

It's definitely very chlorinated but we prefer bottled drinks anyway so it doesn't really affect us :)

We're at pofq. The garden grocer delivery sounds like an idea. Do you order for arrival day or do you have to have checked in?

We always have a car so never used them. Hopefully someone will be able to post and tell you or try their FAQ's. https://www.gardengrocer.com/questions

Have a quick check and total up your spend, see if its worth getting a taxi/buses to Walmart. On a 21 night holiday we go thru around 15 bottles of Diet Pepsi/Coke, GG charge $2.59 = $38.85 + tax, Walmart last trip they were $1.33 = $19.95 + tax = $20 diff + $14 delivery = $34 saved by going to walmart on one item.

I definitely don't fancy wasting a couple of hours on buses/cabs to get water. We don't drink fizzy. Thanks for the info though.

There's a Winn Dixie not far from DTD. We picked up some essentials their when we stayed at POR. Cheaper than Garden Grocer and as we knew what we were going for it took about an hour.

That being said for just water I wouldn't bother. We don't like to carry bottles around the parks all day so just ask for cups of iced water. For the few that we would have in our room I would just walk over to the Hess Garage.

We have taken squash once for my DD when she was small but won't again because of the weight. It does take away some of the taste (I didn't notice it but DH did).

That 24 crate looks a good price - I guess you need to weigh up the GG delivery cost but if you are getting in snacks too, then worth it and delivery will defo be better than a cab to walmart - is closest walmart/supermarket to AoA on 192?

Ditto! When we lived in the London area I filtered and boiled everything. I even changed my brand of tea and coffee because it tasted odd. Of course I just got used to it and we moved back ..... But Florida water is very different.

I don't think it tastes chlorinated. It tastes like sulpher (sulfer)

Whatever you decide, if you buy bottled water, please, please, please keep those plastic bottles cool and out of the sun. Plastic exposed to heat causes chemicals from the plastic bottle to be released into the food/drink and is just not a good idea.

My DH doesn't like any tap water either here or abroad, but he does have hypersensitivity to smells , and taste is connected to smell.

We don't have a car but split a taxi to Walmart between the 3 of us and stock up on supplies, ( I also don't take full size toiletries, to save luggage space so need to go shopping )

We buy 2 or 3 crates of water, and I pop some in the freezer the night before we go to the parks , they melt slowly during the day and we always have ice cold water , without queuing up for a CS cup of water.

It doesn't take nothing like a couple of hours.

There is also a new Publix just by celebration that the 56 bus stops at that is much closer then the Walmart. Time the buses right and its prob no more then 10-15 mins from the TTC and they run on time generally. Not sure where you got the couple of hours from.:) Although it would prob take this if you get side tracked to look around the store. We can be in Walmart for hours literally!
