Has anyone been here? It looks cool, and I have been wanting to go for a while now. It's in Kissimmee. :)

"Florida Splendid China"

Splendid China is a spectacular family theme park featuring more than 60 incredibly detailed replicas of China's most historic landmarks, including a half-mile long Great Wall, the Forbidden City, the modern archeological site of the Terra Cotta Warriors and dozens of other equally wonderful sites and scenes.

In addition, several new attractions are now featured within our 76 acre complex including "The Mysterious Kingdom of the Orient", playing every evening Tuesday through Sunday at 6:00 PM at the Golden Peacock Theater. This spectacular production features the largest, award winning Chinese cast ever assembled in American theatrical history. Discover Suzhou Gardens - a shopping, dining and entertainment complex.

Kelly Monaghan, a "regular" on the Universal/IOA board is a travel writer, and one of his books had a wonderful write up of Splendid China... very thorough write up, and amazing details.

His website is www.theotherorlando.com

Most libraries have his books, or they are a great investment.

(No, I have never met Kelly, but his books are incredible.!)

I went once a few years ago. It was strange in a very surreal way. This is not like a theme park you are used to. I do not know how they stay in business. You could walk for several minutes without seeing another human being. This place was dead. The mock sets are kinda interesting. The only redeaming thing was the acrobatics show, which was actually very good............and the cute oriental guys!! :) An interesting experience, but totally not worth the admission price. This place should be more like the admission to Ripley's or a small museum $7-8 tops.

SSB thinks that he heard that it was actually kept afloat via government monies from China... don't know if true or not...

It does look interesting, but have never known anyone who has actually been...

Don't waste your time or money. We had a buy one, get one free admission deal a few years ago. I guess some people may find it interesting, but there was NO ONE there, it was extremely hot, and it was just eerie.

At each exhibit you pushed a button and a recording explained what you were looking at.

Maybe I am not cultured enough, but if I had paid full price, I would have been very upset.

The only redeeming part was the acrobat show in the evening. They gave us dinner (heavily battered sweet and sour chicken with fried rice on a styrofoam plate) beforehand.
