Hi, All! This question is for those folks who have historical knowledge of Disney Florida Resident rates! I just booked my October trip at the horrifying Rack Rate! I'm a Florida resident and am counting on a resident discount for October.

Question is, are there times where *no* discount is offered?

When I booked today, the CM told me that there's no guarantee that a discount will come out. I fully understand where she's coming from, coz no one wants to get blasted for saying a discount will exist when it won't!

So. . . .anyone know?

Hello Neighbor!

I found a historical link on MOUSESAVERS
that tells when codes have typically come out since April of 2001. Take a look at that to see when and if codes will be out during the time you are going in October.

COME SEE ME AT THE ZOO!!

So cool, Denise! Thanks so much! So, historically there have been discounts in October.. .woo hoo!

The CM commented that October is getting to be a popular month, so there's a chance of no discount, but I have a feeling there will be. If not, I'll probably cancel and go . . .shiver. . . *offsite*! :(

Thanks again for the info, Denise!

I have noticed in the last couple of years the discounts have been unavailable in Oct. I think Food & Wine is too popular and then they have the fall special.
I ended up renting points for that month. That may be something to consider.
It's only 8 points to stay at OKW during the week and they typically rent out for $10.00 a point.

Thanks, Cheryl, for the tip! I've been checking out the point-renting thing, but I just can't seem to grasp it. So what you are saying is, it would cost $80.00/ night during the week, for an 8-point night? I'm so confuuuuused! LOL!

I'm not sure what you mean because as I look at the historical link, there ARE codes available in October. Now if you mean nothing is available for the general public, that is true but the OP is a FL resident and codes have been available for FL residents since 2001.

Yes, exactly. The weekends are higher, I checked into a hotel on the weekend but used the points on the weekdays. I'm doing the BCV for 12 points a night weekdays this coming Oct.

Well, the last two years when I've gone I haven't been able to snag any FL resident rates. I called the day they came out and they said they were sold out of them. Oct. is a big convention month plus food and wine, I think the rooms sell fast, leaving very few rooms with discounts. I just feel better getting my room ahead of time.
Maybe book a room so you have one then if the FL rates come out you can change it to teh discounted rate if it's available when you go.
I usually go the third week of Oct.

The year before, paying 55.00 a night at Sports and 55.00 in Feb. for POP!;) There is a Code out now, till August 31 but not for 55.00 a night, but hey, its still a code.:o

That's great! It was *unavailable* when I called :(

That's exactly what I did. . . a little trick I've learned from reading the DIS boards. . I hope it works for me! **crossing fingers**

I'm in the same boat as a FL resident. I am so used to getting a discount, I shudder at the thought of paying rack rate. I know that sounds spoiled! So, it's better to go ahead and book the room and then apply the discount if one comes out? I guess I better getta bookin'. . .

I've never really planned this far ahead, it's exciting and stressful at the same time. Usually, we just decide to go and the codes are already out and we just call right before we go. I'm gonna go loony if the codes don't come out soon.<a href='http://www.smileycentral.com/?partner=ZSzeb008' target='_blank'><img src='http://smileys.smileycentral.com/cat/4/4_6_218v.gif' alt='Nervous 2' border=0></a>

Good luck to us all!

Well, I got my codes, but that is because I changed the dates for my trip, to start on 9/29--the last day of the value season and last day of the September code! Yes, my kids will miss three days of school, but I figure this'll be the last year I can get away with that!

I originally got $239.00 for Polynesian GV, but felt guilty about the $$$, so switch to AKL, at $134.00 (including tax). Then I *still* felt guilty, so I switched again, to POFQ for $88.00/ night (including tax)!

Since you mentioned the kids I'll just add that the long no-school weekend in October ( this year it's the 16th and 17th ) is a super-busy weekend. I've never seen discounts then.

Our county now has a fall break--a whole week off school, plus the following Monday for a teacher's workday! Personally, I think this is ridiculous, as we have time off in November for Thanksgiving, and then two weeks off in December for Christmas!

But I guess I'm not complaining, as my kids and I will certainly enjoy our trip to WDW and USO/IoA! :D
