I've read that there are some DCL perks with being a Disney Visa cardholder. Do you find that they are worth it? We are not currently cardholders, but are strongly considering signing up.

Also - are there any perks associated with being Florida residents?

I read in the fine print that you can't combine Visa benefits and Florida resident benefits, which made me think perhaps there were FL resident benefits.

Biggest perk to me with the Disney Visa is 6 months free financing on Disney vacation packages. I have the regular card (no annual fee) and got 1% back on the cruise which I converted to the rewards card, then used that for on board credit. If I had know I was going to go on a cruise (FL resident rate) I might have chosen the premium card to get the higher %age back. But I also don't use it enough for every day use to warrant paying the annual fee.

Being a Florida resident - you can watch for deals on the cruise. For us, we sailed last month using a FL resident special in a veranda room (Cat 5c deck 7) for approx $1300 less than my MIL paid 2 years ago for the same category room just booking through an agent. So if you are flexible with your vacation schedule that is a good perk.

Not sure what the fine prints is referring to.

Also, you will see on other threads here they talk about purchasing Disney Gift Cards at BJs Wholesale club for around $95 for a $100 card. They are now available online and in the the stores (at least the Clermont location). You can use them to pay for a cruise, AND if you use your Disney Visa you get the 1% also.

Hope this helps.

OH, one thing the fine print might be referring to you can't combine the shopping discount at stores (over $50 in purchases) with the FL Annual pass holder discount.

In addition to the 0% financing offer, the Disney Visa perks are listed here: https://disneyrewards.com/vacation-perks/disney-cruise-line/. It’s mainly some discounts off shopping and spa services onboard if you use the Disney Visa to back your onboard account.

Perks have changed at times. Once there was an OBC offer, and that could not be used with any other special offer or rate like FLR. I’d assume the small print related to those kinds of offers, which aren’t currently available. I believe the current onboard perks are open to FL residents as much as anyone. But you could call to ask.

Enjoy your cruise!
