Is there a web site link to information about the cost of tolls on Florida highways?
Or does anyone know the total needed to drive from Savannah to Beach Club Resort?
This will be the end of our drive from MA, but we have an EZPass that will get us to So Carolina. I then think the next tolls we will hit are in Florida. I want to have the money I need available.
TIA

Coming from Ma. if you are coming straight down 95 from Savannah to I-4 in Daytona there are no tolls to Disney. If you want to miss the I-4 construction, highly recommended, keep going south on 95 til you get to the 528 in Cocoa Beach and head over that way. Tolls would then be about 6-8 dollars, I have sunpass but that is a pretty good estimate, and 528 only adds about 20 min. of drive time compared to hrs. of sitting in stop and go traffic.

Unfortunately there are 2 different web sites:
Each of the 2 operates some of the roads in the Orlando area. In fact, many roads have both Turnpike and CFXway toll booths on different sections. And each the web sites does not include tolls at the other's booths.

Thank you

Thank you @snowmedic This kind of advice is very helpful. We do want to avoid I4 backups and we are willing to pay tolls to do that.
So to be prepared do I need quarters for the tolls or are dollar bills good?

Where exactly is the I4 construction? Is it bad throughout the day or only during rush-hour?

It is from the east side of orlando to just passed universal in both directions. When we left in March it took over an hr to get through, that was at 10 in the morning. If you sneak in early, 5-6 am you might be alright. 528 is best if coming in later.

Thanks. I am actually thinking about leaving WDW and heading north on I4 in the evening (after 7PM) on a weekday. I am hoping the commuter traffic would start to wind down by the time we get on I4. I obviously won't expect open road and breeze through at speed limit, but hope it won't be stop & go.

Tolls on 528 and 417 between I95 and WDW are a total of $5.00, two $1.00 tolls on 528 followed by two $1.50 tolls on 417. Use the right hand lanes of the toll plazas to pay cash and take the exit toward Disney Springs and the Epcot resort area.

Edited to add: Since this thread has now been resurrected after a full year, I want to note that the second (more eastern) toll of 528 has been raised to $1.25, as I noted in a different post back in January. The total from WDW to I95 (or the reverse) is now $5.25.

add .25 ... tolls on 528 are now 1.00 and 1.25 .....

a roll of quarters keeps you away from the attended lanes .... if something is gonna get backed up, it will be the attended lane:

can you break a $100
do you take credit cards
do you take Canadian money
do you take checks
can you tell me how to get to ......

Sunpass means you can just fly thru the toll plazas and not worry about it

you can order on the web site and it arrives by mail in a week (typically) .... you want the $20 portable version as you can keep this one forever and move from car to car, even a rental. The $5 version is a one time 'sticker' good for one car only .... https://www.sunpass.com/index

setup your account online b4 you leave home ....

so far as the I-4 construction in greater Orlando, the project is called "I-4 Ultimate"

most of the active construction right now is from the I-4 / 408 junction downtown to the north border. Add to this the typical mess from 528 til south of the Disney area ......

AWESOME! Thank you for the information, I'll hope on the site later on and check that out!

So basically I'll be sitting in construction traffic once I get close....

you'll be in a construction zone for sure ... they are widening and that means lane shifts, temporary bridges, dump trucks moving in and out, occasional exit closures and a virtual guarantee that things will be a mess during rush hours .... use your traffic app of choice.

My last several trips on I-4 have prompted me to avoid as much as possible - or at least to stay away from peak hours ...

We're going to be in Orlando in June for 10 days and then driving to Miami for another 4. Is it better to purchase the Sunpass and use that as opposed to just using the rental car's toll collection. Probably going with an Alamo vehicle so I think they are better then say Thrifty or Dollar on toll charges. I think Alamo charges 3.95 for any day you use a toll and then bills you for tolls. We will probably be at WDW for many of our days in Orlando, but also will go off property on a couple "down days". I know around Miami there are tolls in many places.

Alamo charges $3.95 per day used up to a maximum of $19.75 for a contract, plus tolls at 'toll by plate rate'

a portable sunpass is $20 with the discounted electronic rate for the tolls.

your break even for buying is about 5 days encountering/using the electronic service ... 4 days in Miami where electronic tolls are virtually unavoidable, trip to + trip from airport in Orlando is 6 days ..... if another trip is in the foreseeable future buying seems prudent, and you get 'lowest rate' for tolls.

if this is a one time you could do the $5 sticker, just be sure to remove it when you return the car and then you need to kill the account and request a refund of any unused 'pre-pay'

I would strongly advise buying a Sunpass -- either the portable one for $20 or the sticker for $5, whichever meets your needs better.

As Capt_BJ pointed out, the break-even for the $20 portable is 5 days -- but, that's IF you don't go through any toll booths. With the rental car systems, you pay tolls at the Toll-by-Plate rate -- which means you are paying $4 per day for absolutely nothing except the rental car company's expense of billing you.

You can check tolls on the Sunpass site, but when I did a quick check on a couple of Miami tolls, I see a SunPass savings of 32% on tolls. In Miami-Dade County, there are NO tollbooths. Everything is electronic, so you either have a SunPass or pay 32% more. The tolls are not onerous, but why pay more?

Also, throughout South Florida, some of the non-toll Interstates (I-95, I-75, I-595) have toll Express Lanes. SunPass covers those, and they may be to your advantage at some times of the day.

If you need any info about Miami, let me know.

So glad this thread was started. We may take 95 now verses 75. Is this construction done on weekends as well?

*note- never mind, we won't be going in the direction of this construction on 75, I didn't realize that. My husband just rolled his eyes at me. :teeth:
