Florida...Here we go again...Francis is on the rampage..

I'm thinking the most likely landfall point in closer to West Palm Beach, but in any case Orlando will see some affect from the storm.

That's what I'm hosting at my site ( http://flhurricane.com ) that was mentioned earlier. I wanna say hi to Bev too, I've met her at Universal a few times running the MiB circuit (and on the hall of fame too)

My biggest scare is that it will stall out over the state.

atricks, are you affiliated with flhurricane.com? It's by far my favorite hurricane site, and the folks there do an amazing job.

All those in Orlando and all those concerned about WDW just hope and pray that the Hurricane stays on a course where WDW and Orlando is on the left side. Which side you are on in a Hurricane makes a large difference with the right side being the side of more power.

On the FSU Miami game, someone asked if I am sure. Right now the word is just that the conferences and the TV network is discussing rescheduling it.

Hi, Attricks! Good to see you again. I just wish we were riding MIB instead of discussing a hurricane though.

The tv meterologists here are prediciting Frances will coming in though Melbourne and having the eye go right over Orlando. I sure hope they are wrong. They also said it is worse than Andrew. They are comparing it to Hugo.

Great stuff atricks

Not a good story line so far. I like the models that have it going up the east coast. This model is NOT a good situation for the folks on the east coast and Orlando. Both get slammed hard.

I have a trip planned to Disney for Sunday and Monday. We will have to see.

I got a clarification on this (actually on the flhurricane site). The game IS scheduled for Monday night, but the FSU team is suppose to fly into Miami on Saturday, so they are looking at rescheduling for Saturday the 11th.

News said it is probably hitting melbaora(sp) and going from east to west straight across Florida then going towards Georgia.

From the Satalite pictures that thing looks larger then the state of Florida. I am going to be doing some heavy duty praying for you all.

Sending lots of prayers to all of you in Florida. This one has me very worried. We have relatives in West Palm, Jupiter, and Miami area :( .

I've never heard of this before. Can you explain it a bit further? I don't know how you mean being on the right side......by the way/direction the hurricane is spinning you mean??

Having been at Disneyworld for Charley, I am now mesmorized by hurricanes. God I hope this one blows out to sea, or miraculously loses strength as it gets closer to the US. After going through Charley, my prayers are with everyone in FLorida right now.

*sends prayers from Michigan*

Still looking bad. YUK.

On the left and right side. Wont go into detail, but because the way a hurricane operates the left side is the side you want to be on especially for sea surg. However, its just a general rule, all things are relative depending on where you are.

The winds of a hurricane are strongest in its upper righthand quardrant. So, you fare better by being on the left side of the eye as it passes.

EX: WDW fared better than Orlando Airport during Charley because WDW is to the west of the airport. The eye (or what was remaining of it) passed between the two locations.

This morning it looks like your prediction is coming true! They are now predicting the northern end of my county!! I am freaked out!!

Checking in from Southern Palm Beach County...

I am terrified right now. This thing has the potential to strengthen, and we really don't need that. I live on the bottm floor of an apt. building, and I'm just scared. We are west of Federal Hwy., but east of 95. My idiot husband is convinced that we're going to get nothing...I want to strangle him.

Well, I'm now off to Target to see if I can find any last minute supplies. Stay safe, everyone.

Our news channel, Orlando's WFTV 9 is predicting the eye to actually make landfall closer to West Palm and the eye actually heading a bit further south in Central Florida than originally predicted. This puts the eye DIRECTLY on, or slightly SW of WDW. That is BAD NEWS for WDW and me.

My apartment complex is already clearing out. People are leaving today. The one maintenance guy who is staying is moving his ENTIRE apartment from the third floor to the first floor. Now, we live on the third floor! We have no option to move down. Our only options at this point are to batten down and stay, go to a friend's house up the road, or leave completely. This is difficult to do with the cats and not knowing really where to go to be safe.

Of course, if everyone wasn't stressed enough, they say that there can still be shifts or wobbles in the path and they really have no idea where it will go.

I hope we fare as well as we did for Charley where we were on the west side of the eye. Just 10 miles away in Kissimmee got nailed.

The rain in Miami yesterday COULD have been outer bands thrown away from Frances, but that is a LONG way.

We had some severe thunderstorms yesterday afternoon here. We lost power a couple times. Then again, we lose power several times a week from these summer storms.

I really don't know what else to say or do. Just hope everyone stays safe, and prepares.

Ted

Latest Hurricane Frances wind field graphics, based on the 5:00 advisory track:

State emergency management is having a press conference on TV right now and they are stressing that people need to plan their evacuation based on finding the CLOSEST safe place they can. They are stressing that with the inexact nature of these storms, and this one in particular, that trying to evacuate with the goal of taking yourself completely out of the storm's path is impossible to do.

They are repeating this many times. Go TENS of miles to safety, not HUNDREDS of miles.

You are all in my prayers! I can't imagine knowing a storm like that was headed my way. I'm such a chicken about storms, I would probably be half way across the country already! I wish I could help.
