Flooded POTC boats

We rode last week. No problems at all, no water, no big wave coming in at drop--nothing.
Also worth noting---there were two extremely large people in the front of the boat. It did not affect the ride/water situation.
We had a blast. Rode it several times and no standing water in any boat we were in.

You would think they would close it immediately if they are aware of the issue. All it would take would be one person slipping, falling and cracking their head against a boat, the floor, or whatever for this to become a life threatening problem. The hordes of people that will be riding in the next six weeks almost guarantees that something will occur. Why would they risk that to keep it open?

I think they think they are covering themselves by having the You May Get Wet signs up. Although that won't help them in a slip and fall.

I also wonder if the water is being treated as if it were a water ride (the same water quality regulations that swimming pools and waterparks and true water rides have to adhere to).

I don't want to be over dramatic but this is the situation with my mom, no need to risk a fall, especially because I feel I have been warned

We will skip it for this reason and a few others. If this were our first/only visit, I would ask to sit in the back and change into flip flops for the ride but since we've been on before, we'll pass this time around. Disappointing though.

I'm in the queue now, and just put on a poncho. Generating some weird looks, but I don't care. :rotfl:

This brings up a good point. In the past during rainy poncho weather, they usually ask you to remove your poncho before boarding indoor rides which is a real pita to get it off without getting soaked and defeating the whole purpose of the poncho... now that POTC is a "water ride" ponchos are suddenly ok?

We rode Pirates several times last week and had good luck most of those times. On those occasions, we were seated in rows 3 or 4 and I took the the seat on the left. Our last ride, 11-15, was a different story. We were in rows 1 and 2 (we had a VIP tour guide that day and my daughter insisted on riding in the front row with him!) -- they both walked off soaked! My best friend, aunt, and mom rode in the second row with me. We were definitely sprayed with a decent amount of water, but the worst was when we bumped into the boat in front of us; the water literally poured over our feet, so much so that our shoes were soaked. I love PoTC but don't think I'll ride it again anytime soon.

I talked to my cousin who just got back from WDW today about POTC and the water. She said there was a bit of standing water in the boat, that they were splashed when they went down the little hill (2nd row) and that their butts were wet when they got off. She said it wasn't almost completely dry like it used to be, but they didn't get soaked, either. Fortunately it didn't break down while she was on it, either.

Disney's Pirates Under the Caribbean?
Also known as "Catching Nemo."

Maybe since it wasn't a rainy day and they knew it wasn't a wet poncho the cast members didn't say anything. There were definitely a few rolling eyeballs, funny looks and whispers at us in the queue from fellow riders, but I didn't care. I had on shoes that could get wet. We sat in the very back row and three women from Scotland were in front of us, and when they got in and saw us in our ponchos, they asked if it was a wet ride. I was like, weellll... And explained really fast. They threw on ponchos quickly. I told them, now that we're prepared, nothing will happen. :D When we got in the boat, there was just a tiny bit of water on the floor, a drop or two on the seats. It looked like the people in the front got a little splash. I saw a few wet marks on the guys' shirts and a few drops on one guy's head. The conveyor belt was definitely slick on the way out.

Ok, gotta run, waiting on CTM and Holiday Wishes to start soon! Just wanted to give my experience today. :)

:tigger:

ETA P.S. The misty screen thinger in the beginning still wasn't working.
