Flooded POTC boats

We learned from a CM when taking the KTTK tour a few years ago, the four keys that Disney focuses on:
Safety
Courtesy
Show
Efficiency

Safety comes first- this apparently is in name only because what's happening at POTC right now is not safe. The CM's are not courteous when they demand the boats be overfilled. The show is lost when the guests have to be evacuated. Efficiency is lost as well- even though they think overfilling boats is efficient, they violate safety which is supposed to be paramount. What's going on at the exec level?????

Rode yesterday, row 4.
The boat was so overloaded - only one child on the boat - that we were scraping the bottom the whole time.
Took on water a few times too.
We said something when we got off, and the CM at the end said, "We're told 4 adults per row."

I'm sorry, but everyone in my row was average build, and we were crammed.
Am I seriously expected to believe they cram four pooh sized adults into one row?

It's fascinating that they are sticking with this plan to load the boats to the max in light of the current issues.

We rode twice earlier this week. The first time in row 2, and I was on the far right, where it was leaning, and I got a little wet. Both rides though, the people in the front row screamed as soon as we hit the bottom of the drop. There was standing water in both boats when we got in.

You'd have to ask He Who Shall Not Be Named...

... or should it be Him Who Shall Not Be Named...

Just got done with our trip and this was the first time in my life I've gone to Disney without riding POTC.

We rode Splash Mountain 3 times, and one of those times we got soaked. We laughed so hard we cried. We rode Splash when we were prepared to take the risk of getting soaked. Once that happened we considered POTC since we were wet anyway, but the standing water and listing boats really puts me off of it.

I have a friend who got stuck on Pirates yesterday for 30 minutes! And they were in the front row and got soaked. So the saga continues.

We rode on the 17th during MVMCP - the standby line was 5 minutes, and they were not filling boats completely. I requested the last row and it was just my mom and I. The seat/floor was a little wet, but no standing water. We didn't get wet at all, thank goodness. We did get stuck a couple times.

This seems so unlike Disney. Or at least the old Disney...

:thumbsup2 Totally agree. Just the excessive splashing alone, but with the listing, the cramming of people and it sounding like it's common to get stuck. The "old Disney" would have closed it for repairs instead of insisting this is ok.

Rode tonight. It was down for quite some time prior, but finally was open again. They tried to put us in row 1, but I asked to be put back and CM sighed and gave us row 5. There was some water on the bottom, but mainly collected on the sides. My shoes didn't get wet. Our boat wasn't overly filled or heavy and we didn't get wet in row 5. The people in row 1 did, but it didn't look like they were hit with a tidal wave. It was 2 adults and a boy around 8-10. His shirt was thoroughly soaked. The ramp after the ride was ridiculously wet and is an accident waiting to happen! I wish Disney would get their act together regarding this classic ride!

The Cast Members are gonna be doing alot more sighing because more and more people are gonna get a clue and ask to not be in the first few rows. I hate putting them out, but there's no way I'm missing Pirates and there's no way I'm getting soaked on it because of politeness - I'm definitely telling them "not the first 2 rows" when I go on it in January (assuming it's still open and running). Having waves of water coming into your boat and soaking your shoes is just unacceptable. I'm gotten pretty wet a few times on Splash but never like that!

Let me reiterate- you are not safe in the back row either unless you sit in the middle! I was in the back row, on the end (I got into the boat first) and my shorts got SOAKED because water came over the side. Because the boat was listing badlly to my side, the water collected there and my feet were in water the rest of the ride. I just want people to understand where NOT to sit.

I think they should close it and start fixing immediately. It's obvious something is very wrong.
why would you close it immediately if they have not yet determined what the exact problem is and how to resolve it. I am sure its not dangerous to ride POTC, although you may get wet or even soaked. But they have to determined the root cause and what needs to be done to fix it.

We rode it last Sunday and we were beginning to get into a boat when we were all told to get out again. The floor looked pretty wet: I don't know how much water there was in the bottom but I certainly left shoeprints on the seat when I got out. This was the back row.
They put a red banner across the front seat back and took that boat out of service. Another one came in and the floor, while glistening wet was not sloshing in water.

They put just DD and I in the back row (I have my walking stick anyway), and we huddled as close as we could get into the middle as we went down the drop, and also while we went through the sea with the cannon balls. DD got a tiny splash of water on her face and I think I got a tiny bit at one point, but I think we were lucky.

This is the first year since 2003 (when we started coming) that we've been 'expecting' to get a bit wet on this ride. It's NOT supposed to be a wet ride.

Ummm, they should close it immediately so they CAN figure out what the problem is and how to resolve it. They shouldn't keep it open, endangering guests with the wet ramp and floor (slipping hazard) and soaking guests or getting them stuck. We are their GUESTS...not their guinea pigs.

Adding my report to the pile. We were there Monday and it was around 4 pm when we rode. Two adults, two kids. We got row 4. There was a small amount of water on the floor - mostly about a half inch puddle on my side (kids were between us). The boat was listing to the right quite a bit - my hubby was on that side and got more wet than I but still not much. We did however get stuck in a big line of boats at Jack Sparrow. Not for long, maybe 2-3 minutes if that. But they definitely were sticking there as even when we started moving it was jerky and with pauses.

There was a CM checking boats for water afterwards, she dipped her shoes in the boats and had a flashlight to check.
