I just saw an ad for the Floridays resort on International Drive - it just opened May 2006. I was wondering if anyine has been there yet and how far it is from Disney. Their site says 2.5 miles but I heard International drive can be congested with traffic. Please let me know if anyone has been there.
Thanks

I watched it being built b/c I figured it would be new and they would offer deals. It is right across the street from Vistana Village and that is on the GOOD part of I drive. When I contacted them they told me is is not like a time share but a hotel where you buy the unit and then they rent it for you. You can visit as many times as you want but you cannot live there year round. It is kind of weird if you ask me. I guess it is like having a vacation home and you rent it only when you want. I think and correct me if I am wrong but Regal Palms is like that also.

We are trying it out in August (August 11-19th). We got a GREAT deal at $135.00 per night for a 2 bedroom. I'll let you know how it goes! I'm pretty optimistic. In terms of location it is in a GREAT spot. It's just outside the 'gates' of Disney...there is a grocery store just down the street. We have stayed in this area many times and find that it tends to be even more convenient than staying in the parks. By the way...we were Disney Vacation Club owners (at the Boardwalk) so we have experience with both on and off site. We ended up selling out DVC because we had such a great experience at off site timeshares like HGVC (the new one on International Drive) and the Marriott Grand Vista and Horizons. We loved the Boardwalk...we just love the locations offsite and the size of the units.

I am curious did you rent from an owner or did they give you a good deal so that you would take a look at the place?

I just called today to book for Oct and they gave me a rate of 135.00 for a 2 bedroom 2 bath through AAA discount. The promo rate for this room was 164.00. The promotion rate for a 3 bedroom is 194.00/night and the AAA rate was 220. Figure that one out! I went with the 3 bedroom. Where else can you get 3 bedrooms for that price!!! I read a review online that said they heard the rates were going to go up alot after the buildings are completed.
The girl on the phone said it is not a timeshare so there is no presentation you have to attend - She also said the first phase should be complete by early next year.

I booked it directly on their website and just chose the AAA rate. There are quite a few pictures etc. on the website...it looks great.
