Floaties / Water Wings at resort pools??

yes - but the resort will supply them. they are free to resort guests. you can only get them at the main pool. (not the quiet ones)

We always bring our own. One trip we forgot them and bought new ones in the giftshop at POR. Surprisingly they were only $2.00. We always use the quiet pools. It is good to know they are provided at the main pools.

From what I've read on these boards, not every hotel has the same policy about water wings. I've also not seen water wings supplied by the hotel, just life jackets (but, I wasn't really looking for them, either). I would check with your specific resort to be sure.

Each resort seems to be different in terms of what they supply, but they all allow you to use them or use your own.

Thanks kidlit!! We are staying at POR, so we will bring our own!! It is also good to know that you can buy them for only 2 un-disney-inflated dollars!!

Even if they have them, I'd bring my own. We stayed at POFQ last year and although there were some supplied, they were always being used by other guests. In fact, a lifeguard told me that people will snag them their first day and then take them back to their rooms to keep using them through their whole vacation. Very un-Disneyish, since the rest of us couldn't use them at all!

I had a hard time getting one the right size for my DD. If you have the space, I'd bring it along.

Yes--take them! Our daughter even used them on the water slide--she thought that was totally cool. Of course one of us waited at the bottom of the slide to get her while the other took her up. Have a great time!

Bring your own. They fold up flat when deflated, so space shouldn't be an issue. My niece used hers at OKW and CBR with no problems. She even used them on the slides. I saw plenty of kids with them on. They did have vests at OKW, but none in her size, so we were glad to bring the wings.

They had life jackets at CS. I'm pretty sure most places will let you use your own water wings, but they might not allow certain other devices that are larger (I'm thinking rafts).

Does anyone know about the Wilderness Lodge? My daughter is only 3 and loves swimming. I will bring my own but want to know if they allow flotation devices. Anyone Know??

We went to the WL 2 years ago and right after my twins jumped into the pool a lifeguard came up to me and told me that they could not use their water wings. The only thing they could use was a lifejacket. I had to go down to the boat dock at the WL and they scanned my key card. They told me that I could keep the jackets until we checked out, but if we didn't return them we would be charged $45 per jacket.

We've used water wings (arm bands) at many of the resorts with no problems. The exception was Coronado Springs where the only flotation devices allowed were life jackets. We have not been allowed to use any other types of floats including the blow up baby float with the seat inside the ring at any resort.

This policy, like so many others at Disney, seems to change from CM to CM and day to day!

Just want to have everyone keep in mind, to be extremely careful when using waterwings. As a Pediatric Intensive care RN I have taken care of more than 1 patient (drowning victim) that was wearing water wings while swimming with there parents. They are marked "this is not a life saving floation device" for a reason. Play safe.

I second this. Two other concerns with water wings:

1. They can slip down a child's arms while swimming-- a definate drowning risk.

2. If they are used very frequently, they can really put kids at a disadvantage when it comes to learning how to swim. I saw it time and time again when I used to teach lessons.

Last time I checked, all resorts offered lifejackets free of charge to guests. If you don't see them available, just ask.
