How much can I expect to pay for flights in August and where is the best place to buy them. Ive looked at a few sites for flights for next year and they are really expensive!! :headache:

If you haven't got loads of Virgin miles to use for Miles plus Money flights try ThomsonFly. I found their flights from Birmingham to be around £633.
That compares to £865 for a Virgin Flydrive.

Is it best to book early or should I wait a bit? :confused3

This August was really expensive. Too early to know for next year yet as scheduled are not released until 11 months from our return date. We flew out here on 2nd Aug from Man, return on 27th. Cost us £533 +2,000 miles, most I have ever paid for Virgin flights, without using miles it was £833 each.
We really struggle from Man as we come for 25 nights in Aug, no choice its Virgin or indirect. I wish TCD or a new company would run a full sceduled service to compete direct.

Just isn't the volume there. that's why even Virgin only run a second service at weekends through August, not all year or even all week.

TCD are a charter so will not run a scheduled service year round or even daily as they would not make any money on the route.

If you are going to go in Aug, try and go a late as you possibly can.

For 3 economey tickets on Virgin this Aug (2 adults 1 child) we paid a total of £1295. I booked the flights in April this year when Virgin had a sale on (we have since upgraded to PE with Virgin for £370) so total cost for flights £1665 which I think is excellent value.

If you are going to book everything DIY I would say wait a while. There is not really any danger of flights and hotels selling out.

Great prices there!!!! Can I just ask, when you say August, do you mean flights actually coming back in August? We're stuck with kids holidays (as are a lot of people) and I find that when companies say a month, e.g August, they usually mean, leaving at the end, and returning in September. Which is no good for me:confused3
We've found the same as you Jen. We'd like to book sooner rather than later, as I know hotels wont book up, but the nicest villas may disappear! Especially as we want 25-28 nights duration.
I'll have a look at those flights Goofyish, sounds interesting. If they do long duration that is.

Going out 24 Aug :cool1: coming back 9 Sept

Like you we are limited to school holidays but we asked the DD's school and they had not problem with a few extra days out.
