Ok, so I followed the United Airlines deal and booked over the weekend for 18-30 August at £450 pp with lastminute.com

I am happy with price so no stress there, however we fly out via Houston and have only a 1.5 hours connection. All my previous experiences tell me that I am mad however the price was too good to ignore.

Has anyone travelled through Houston, what is customs like in terms of time taken and has anyone any idea whether I need go to another terminal etc for the connection.

Worse case is we miss the connection on go on the next flight. Anyone got any re-assuring experiences via Houston

We have done houston when travelling to salt lake city and the airport is huge, we had to run between the gates and it was very busy.

For me personally i would want a little more time between just incase

My sister lives in Houston so mum and dad travel there up to four times a year .... Can take 35 mins but has taken over two hours to get through immigration so best give yourself extra time if possible.

I've travelled to Houston many times and I think you're too tight with that connection. I've taken over 2 hours once but only 30 minutes at another time and usually about an hour.
These were times to clear customs and pick up my bag, not join another plane!

I think that isn't quite enough time between flights they shut check in so you prob only have an hour to do everything and you may not be guaranteed to get a seat on another flight

As others have said, I personally wouldn't risk just 90 minutes. I would want at least another 15-20 minutes myself.

I have done a 90 minute connection flying to the States before, but that was with hand luggage only.

Having said that, I have travelled to Houston in the past (for Houston's busiest time of the year, the Offshore Technology Conference in May), and can't remember big queues at immigration, so you may be OK.

I could have got indirect flights £250 per person cheaper for July next year via Atlanta, but the connection times were too tight for me, so for peace of mind I paid the extra.
