Flight time has changed!!!!

Our flight to come home has changed from 1:15pm to 12:15!! I know that it isn't much of a difference but I picked that flight so we would not have to get on ME til around 10:00 now it will be 9:00!!!!

Can I call and see about getting a later flight?

Sure. Depending on the airline, this may be doable. Find a flight that you want to take instead and then give them a call. If it is Airtran, you won't have any problem changing.... some of the legacy carriers won't think that is a big enough time change, and some airlines may not have another flight later.....

It doesn't hurt to try, but as the PP noted it's all dependent on the airline actually having a later flight with seats on it AND the airline considering the schedule change to be significant enough to allow you to switch flights without incurring a change fee. Some airlines or even individual employees at a given airline will be more accomodating than others.

Go into the call armed with details of the flight you want to be on and very politely state your case.

it depends on the airline. I know AirTran gets beat up around here sometimes, but they are awesome, wonderful, amazing about allowing changes for even the smallest schedule change.

They changed our flights by only 20 minutes. Cheerfully gave us the option of changing flights, changing travel dates, changing airports or even just refunding our money.

Airtran actually has much better customer service than the majors (which I use for business travel)

My Delta flight for October was changed from 12:35pm to 12:10 to 11:50. The first time I called they said it had to be at least 90 minutes for a free change. After the second change, I called and said the time was no longer acceptable, I would have to cancel my breakfast reservation. I have an award ticket, I found another flight for the same amount of miles that leaves at 6:30pm (not there when I originally booked), I asked if we could switch to that and they said yes!

I have found that this is one reason I really like AA's FF program. You can switch to any available flight that has awards availability for no fees. I book a flight on a given day and if a better one comes up, I can change the flight. In fact, I am allowed to change the dates of the flights as well.... as long as the departure and arrival airports don't change.
