Flight question

20-60 minutes depending on size of aircraft and destination (domestic vs international)

For flights within the US that are larger than a CRJ 30 minutes is the norm

and one MUST usually be on board at least 10-15 minutes before scheduled departure to avoid missing a flight

Southwest is usually about 20-25 minutes, and US AIr is 30 minutes.

Most will close the door 15 minutes before take-off time and may give away your seat to stand by passengers if you are not there 15 minutes before take off. Give yourself plenty of time...

I can't believe the number of people I have seen in the gift shop at MCO that hear the final boarding announcement and go running out the door!!! They are remarking that it wasn't time for their flight to depart. :(

Oh, I hear you!! While at Logan a year or so ago, we were in the Dunkin Donut line...we were about 90 mins before gate time so were unconcerned about the length of the line. However the woman in back of us was going nuts. Seems they had just called for her flight to board. She's in back of me, complaining that her gate is waaaay down the row, and she'll never make it...can't those people hurry up!!!?? Well, I let her go ahead of me, knowing full well she was not going to make that flight if she stayed in line. Sure enough, they called final boarding 5 mins later and off she went, ranting all the way!!!
At MCO, we actually overheard one passenger coming up the aisle, after the rest of us had boarded, saying to her dh..."Well, they say departure is at 1:20, no one said we had to be at the plane so far in advance!!! We still have 10 mins left before departure. I don't understand what the rush was!!!!"
Nope, air travel never ceases to amaze me.

Southwest flights at MCO have been known to depart before the plane arrives! *lol*

Last March, I was in a huge line at MCO to board a SW flight to PHX. There was no gate attendant--just an automated system. It announced preboarding, general boarding, final boarding call, and departure--with no plane at the gate! Not a SW employee in sight. I pulled out my trusty cell phone and called SW to see what was happening. The plane finally arrived while the agent was checking and a live person (as opposed to not live!) announced the delayed flight and tried to untangle the passengers for three flights that were mixed together.

Missed my flight in ABQ, but SW put me on the next flight and bumped me into A group (my original connecting flight group).

Definitely don't LUV that automated system!
