Hi all,
As Disneyworld virgins,in early planning stages for August 2015 (damn new school regulations!) I was after some advice on booking flights.I still think the cheapest way to do it would be a fly drive or package deal as soon as they become available but my parents are keen to do the whole thing DIY but I think that will work out a lot more expensive if next year's individual flight prices for August are anything to go by! Ideally we would like direct flights, most I'd want to pay is £750 pp.Is this doable? What is the best way to go about booking? And when will it be possible to book for our dates? Thanks in advance.

Depending where you are flying from, but yes. My husband and I are flying direct from Gatwick during August 2014 at £700 a head. We booked during the BA sale a couple of weeks ago. I think prices are released from 12 months ahead (but later for some airlines).

When we initially checked the prices, it would have been £1000, but a week later, the sale popped up and we saved ourselves £600 :)

Hiya, we generally go in August prices do drop around the 17th onwards buy if you are going for 2 weeks you will struggle to get back in time for start of the new term, we booked about a month ago for august flying direct from Manchester to Orlando and paid around £750 pp but that took some searching to get that price, most were around £800 + pp, also I would expect the prices to go up again next year !!!

I'm looking at the same 2 weeks & the last Monday is the bank holiday, I've got a horrible feeling this means the prices won't drop till the 19th, but it's all guesswork at the mo! £700 indirect flights are available for next August & I'm hoping I can get the same this time next year

I have always booked separate rather than a package as its worked out cheaper. Don't be afraid to use a smaller airline such as flythomascook as the prices are very reasonable and I've never had a bad experience

Thanks guys. Will just keep saving the £ for the time being then! How do some people seemg I get flights booked before the 11/12 month prior to travel mark?

Charter airlines release their flight dates much earlier. It's also possible to book a package through VA but with greatly inflate prices!

I have been checking flight prices for next August to give us an idea ( i.e a shock!) for August 2015. BA into TPA was coming in quite reasonable when they were first released. Thomson EMA to SFB is also a contender for us. When I looked a couple of weeks ago it was around £2500 including extra luggage allowance and choosing seats for 2ad 1ch. A couple of days ago it was around the £2700 mark. Still a lot of money, but not as bad as the £3k, £3.5k VA were wanting! :goodvibes

We are looking at going out on Thurs 14th August for 2 weeks, so having the BH on 31st August will mean DH not going back to work for a few days after we get home. :)

Claire :)

Disneymad- yes we're wanting roughly the same time as you in 2015. Not sure if 2 or 3 weeks though but latest time to get the kids back in time for start of the next school year!gooing no more than £3000 max for 2 adults,2 children.thinking we may need to be willing to go indirect to get this price if next year is anything to go by...

Another family looking for the same two weeks - there are 5 of us and I don't care how we get there, as long as we do! :rotfl:

I think this is the best attitude joolz. I think flying direct for £700 will probably not happen anymore in the summer/school holidays due to the new fine. And Airlines will catch onto this and probably reduce the amount of sale seats during these times. My DD has just started secondary school and I have said no more out of school disney holidays. However weighing up going the week before they break up in december in 2015 and a £60 fine to save £350 or so on a direct flight she may well go.
Im lucky her headmaster is all for children not to miss out on holidays if it means them not going at all BUT has said it would be not so bad towards the end of a term. After year 9 though it will be school holidays only.
To the OP just keep looking. I personally never book when they are released and when we did go in august booked with VA for £510 each. That was in the april. The prices do drop end of august but dont disregard indirect. As a newbie its very daunting . I am yet to do it but hate flying but people get great prices going indirect plus less time queueing at mco airport in immigration.
Good luck sorting it all out enjoy planning.
