The airline customer service line opens tomorrow morning, so I figure to ask here.

We booked our flights about a month ago and the price has been reduced by about $100. Typical economy rate non-stop flights through Delta. Can I get a refund for the difference?

From delta's website:

If I have purchased a ticket and a new fare is introduced, can I obtain a credit?

Yes, in many cases you may obtain a credit voucher (non-refundable tickets) or refund (refundable tickets) at any Delta airport ticket counter, City Ticket Office location, or over the phone (eTickets only) for the difference in fare. A fee will apply for non-refundable tickets.

When we introduce new fares or reduce a current fare in a particular market, you may change a ticket to the new fare if:
The change is made prior to departure
You do not change the flight, date, origin, destination or stopover points
Reservations are confirmed in the appropriate class of service
All fare restrictions are met
The lower fare is not a special delta.com only fare
Any applicable penalties are retroactive to the new fare ticket.

With Delta, you can get a credit or voucher for future Delta flights (not a refund to you) if the fare drops - however, on an economy non-refundable ticket you have to pay a change fee per ticket to get the credit, which is often more than the value of the credit.

It never hurts to call & find out!

ETA: the last time I called the lower price had been a limited time online sale & they would not issue a credit for online specials.

Sure you can rebook at the lower price, unfortunately you will also have to pay a change ticket fee for each ticket unless you bought a fully refundable ticket, which is unlikely. That fee is is $150 per ticket for travel in the US:

So your change would end up costing you $200!

You were given a lot of incorrect information here; I suggest you check your airline's website for accurate information.

This!! I had the very thing happen in December when we went to WDW. After the $150 fee you won't be saving anything sadly.
