I am running the Disney Princess Half in February and our airline moved flight up to arrive at 9am on Friday - we will meet my friend (arriving later from different location) to head to Expo early afternoon and then have dinner at Chef Mickey's - I am trying to figure out what to do for our first few hours.
Can we use the pool at Contemporary before actual check in?
Is there anything else we should look into? I don't think it is worth a full park day given we will only have a few hours.
I have two daughters who love princesses in case that helps with some options.
Thanks!

Hi there. I think I just responded to you on the family thread as well. Yes, you can use the pool before check-in - we normally fly in well before we expect our room to be ready and typically use the time for pool time. Just plan ahead with your bags/packing so you have your swim clothes and any other needed items readily available in a carry-on.

They are somewhat gross but CR has shower/changing rooms next to the pool for easy changing.

Hope that helps!

Well, technically after check in but before your room is ready.

Before check in, you're not a guest of that resort.

I assume you’re referring to some technicality in the word ‘check-in’ that I’m not privy to (ETA: I now see you are meaning checking in, vs check in), but to not confuse the OP:

Check-in is at 3PM for resort guests. You are able to use any and all resort amenities the entire day of your arrival.

It appears you were referring to check in as the time, 3:00. @kaytieeldr was referring to check in as the actual process of checking in.

you will be able to check in whenever you get there, room might not be ready and they might even give you the room number, after you can use the pool.

One can check in (either through the online process or by going to the front desk) as early as 6am that day. After that time and process, you can make yourself at home anywhere at the resort other than the room.

Op I would meet at CR, do the checkin process (we got our room around that time at bay lake last princess), stash bags with Bell Services if the room isn’t ready, and just head to the expo in the morning.

Once you’re done with that mess, then go swim, then get ready and have dinner.

We land around 9:00 am if our flight is on time and get to BLT anywhere from 10:00 - 11:30 am depending upon DME. You can check into CR as soon as you arrive, provided it's after 6:00 am, and are free to use all of their facilities. Bell Services will hold your luggage if a room is not ready. I always bring a change of clothes for us in our carry-on luggage, especially this time of year. When we fly out of PA in three weeks time, it'll probably be in the teens if not colder that morning!

We do go to the parks once we arrive, usually MK as it's close. But, we have AP so I don't have the worry of wasting a ticket. Perhaps you could go to a park, leave to attend the expo, then go back to that same park if you don't have a hopper? You can also do a monorail resort tour, visit the Epcot resorts, AKL for animal viewing, a character lunch to set the theme, etc.

Thanks. Knowing we are doing dinner at chef Mickey any specific lunch suggestions?

Since Chef Mickey's is a buffet, I personally would eat light for lunch. Maybe head to Disney Springs and go for one of the quick service locations? I personally like Earl of Sandwich, Blaze, or D-Luxe Burger.

You could pick up something from the Contempo Café at the Contemporary. Or even try one of the other quick service dining facilities on the monorail. Or at Wide World of Sports.
