What do you use to keep toddlers ears from hurting/popping on your flight?

Last year DD was still sucking a bottle so I made sure she had one during take off incase she had ear problems, but now she is 22 months and off the bottle. Should I have something incase her ears bother her and if so what?

If you think she will still drink from a bottle you can always bring one just for the flight. We did that last trip when ds was 22 months, and he had NEVER drank from a bottle, but he did it for takeoff/landing just fine.

I dont know whether I will bring on Saturday or not.

Can also give them suckers to suck on - we did some ringpops... Anything to chew - fruit snacks the gerber ones work great - kinda like adults chewing gum.

HTH.

A sippy cup with a valve may work as well to pop ears if you don't want to go back to the bottle.

i read somewhere they have small ear plugs for there ears that keep them open so they dont pop . not sure where i read it but thinking it was a handicapped forum seeing my 15 yr old is Autistic and we are concidering taking him on a plane.if i find it i will pass it along.

When we flew our 2 year old in March we brought along Starburst as a treat. She was so happy to get a treat she barely noticed her ears. She did tell us her ears her twice and we told her to hold her nose and mouth shot and blow. That seemed to work well for her. Good luck!!

I found the airplane ear plugs at Target, but never needed to use them. Can't remember what they were called but they were in pharmacy department at Target.

When my daughter flew for the first time last fall, I had her drink from a sippy cup (not a valve one, just one of the take & toss.)

Same here. Has the same effect as the bottle. The fruit snacks also work well. My pediatrician told me the sippy cup and any thing gummy or chewy will help.

My kids get push up pop lollypops when we fly. It's the only time they get a sweet like that so when they see them come into the house they know we are going away. I like them better than a regular lolly because there is no stick to get soggy. I know they are large but both my kids never suck on them for too long and then hand them back to me. The sippy cup also works too.
