Flight Delay and Will Miss Transatlantic Cruise

Driving from Atlanta to Nashville in 3 hours??? that's what i call haulin' azz..[/QUOTE]

Well we would've hit home before we got to Nashville....it's an hour past us. We had a friend picking us up at the airport in Nashville (who was already in Nashville when we found out missed connection and flight would be much later....ended up sending them home and having my dad come get us and take home around midnight.

Hope you have a truly magical cruise, so nice to hear you made it to Boston on Delta's dime.

As for luggage, has no one here flown before? Luggage goes the wrong way all the time.

I will say that is on par with that I know about Delta. I recently had trouble with them when our flight was delayed for 24hrs because of a mechanical failure. According to EU regulations (we were flying out from an airport in the EU) they had to either put us up and feed us for the night or get us on a different flight. Even though they got us on a different flight they still had to pay 600 euros to every member of the party after we submitted the request because of the delay and changed itinerary. I expected there might be some push back on it but they were polite and fast to respond and within a month had sent us the checks (in USD) for the money.

Obviously my situation was under EU regulations but their customer service in the matter was far better than I expected. They also will generally reimburse you if your baggage is delayed.

Anyway, glad you made it to Boston and I hope you enjoy what's left of your cruise!

I hope you have a great time after all you went thru and everything else works out. I just realized this morning I have cousins on that same cruise!

I just read this today, hope you are enjoying your first night onboard the Magic with your luggage. Your family deserves to have a wonderful time. 2 things I learned today.. never fly in the same day as cruise and booking air through Disney apparently doesn't mean a whole lot. Please give us an update after your cruise.

Good point. One-way international flights can be crazy expensive.
I've never booked air through DCL. Can you tell them that you want to arrive the day before?
We've booked our airfare twice through DCL for our Transatlantic cruises (including this one). For this cruise DCL recommended we fly in the day before, and we stayed at the Hyatt MCO as part of our package.

I'm sure that DCL will be more than happy to book a flight the day before and include a hotel stay. Not sure whether they will book a flight the day before, if they are not also doing the hotel.

On our first TA we flew into Barcelona, arriving at 8:00 am for a 4pm departure with no issues.

We found the airfare through DCL was comprable to what it would have cost us to book it ourselves.

Are you saying Delta should compensate as far as the flight goes, or that they should also compensate for the missed portion of the cruise?
Delta will not take any responsibility for this. Delta has a responsibility, per the very one sided contract of carriage, to get you from point A to point B, OR to give a refund of the flight. That is all. There is no more after this.

Hopefully missing the first leg of the trip didn't cause problems for the return flight home! OP, I hope the rest of your trip went so well it made up for the rocky start.
