I am looking for some advice. Because of this Fairytale vaction special we have extended our July trip by one day. I now need to change our flights. Does any body have any advice on getting them changed with out getting charged a fee. We are flying on USAir. I spoke to them about a week ago because two of our connecting flights had been changed to USAir express. This ment a change from a jet to a prop plane. The customure service rep stated since we were changed to express they would let us change without a fee or refund our money, since we had originaly booked on USAir with jet service on all legs. At the time we weren't realy looking to change flights. I was just checking seat assignments because of the change to a smaller plane. Now I would like to change our return flights to a day later. Do you think l could use the express thing to get them to change it to the next day? Thanks

If there is a jet flight on another day you might be able to pull it off. I don't think they are going to buy it if you agree to take the prop plane the next day. You could ask for the refund and re-book if the cheap airfares are availalbe. (They would never know that you just turned around and re-spent the money!)

Otherwise I am afraid you are out of luck. Someone on here did post that after calling their airline about 10 times they found someone to waive the fee. However, I think that is pretty rare. Airlines have really clamped down on changes now and even elite flyers are being charged these change fees (trust me I know!)

I don't think you have much of a chance of them waiving the fee unless you are a preferred flyer with USAirways.

Never hurts to ask but be prepared to pay the fee.

We just went through a similar situation 2x.
We origianlly booked direct flights on AA, on the normal size planes. They cancelled those flights, put us on connecting flights, on tiny planes, and getting to our destinations much later. After a little run around, we were able to get a full refund. Then we booked on Song airline. Less than 3 weeks after announcing our flights, they cancelled our departing flight. They moved us to a later flight and we called to confirm seats and everything was ok. Then we decided why miss out on our first day, we wanted to go a day earlier now. I wasnt sure since we had "accepted"the later flight by confirming our seats, if we could change a day. We called Song and had no problem switching to a day earlier for no fee. I was thrilled. Hope you have as good of luck as we did.

Thanks for all your experiances. When I spoke with USAir last week, they were the ones that broutht up changing flights or a refund. When I spoke to them I was just trying to check on seat assignments. I just as a remark, stated to the agent that they had changed us from USAir to USAir express and from jet to prop. She then spoke about a change or a refund. If I take the refund is it too late to book decent priced airfare for July? Thanks

I got USAir to refund our ticket price because of the downngrade form jet service to express. I have now booked flights out of Albany NY on Southwest. It is a little farther drive for us than Syracuse but they are direct flights. Best of all though we get to stay an extra day at WDW! The change only cost us about $50 more.
