Flew to NY Oct 3 for BLT discount

YES! I remember you. You must have purchased a bunch to get the $96 per point. Smart move to go with BLT. I hope you broke the package up into smaller portions incase you decide to sell some in the future. For my 100 points I broke it up into 65 and 35 contracts. That makes it more valuable on the resale market.

PS: What did you mean by matched '09 points. I am getting points in 2009, but nothing more than that.

Keith M.

Hey Keith...Well, first, yes, I did break up my points into 3 smaller contracts. My guide suggested it actually, as I never would have thought they would let me do that. I was able to get the $16 off with 240 points. It was anything over 236 to get to that incentive level. They draw the chart up deceptively to make it look like you need to buy 270+ but I noticed a line after the 235 level and asked my guide, "what if I buy 236 pts.?" and he told me that is the minimum you could buy to receive the $16 rebate. They didn't offer that info though.

I did 240 pts. so I could split it into 3 80-point contracts. We have 3 kids so will need a 1-BR at the minimum and I figured 240 would be a good number to start with. Plus I can pass along the smaller contract to each kid under my estate, if it comes to that.

My guide explained the 2009 points as matching the points that are starting in 2010. That may have been a clever sales tactic, b/c I was thinking that they were giving me something when in reality I guess I'm just getting what I'm paying for. But I don't have to pay all the '09 dues....just a pro-rated portion for 3 months of membership. I don't know, it was all kind of a blur after a certain point. I was thinking of it as like, developer points but I guess it's not that at all!

But anyway, I'm glad to have "met" you here as well as at Doorway to Dreams.

Talk to you later!

Hi! We are brand new DVC members from the Long Island Doorway to Dreams also! My husband and I traveled to NYC this past weekend from SC to take advantage of the incentive price. We saved a lot of money buying in at the $96 pp instead of the $112 - $5pp being offered in Orlando. We flew up on Delta miles that we had and enjoyed a fun weekend in NYC. Couldn't have been a more exciting way to become official members, finally!!!

I was very impressed with the CMs at the Doorway to Dreams in Long Island. They had the contracts (we broke the points into 4 contracts because we have 4 children) all printed out and ready when we got there. It was a great experience.

While I did not know of the extension into 2010... I did know I could use the 1-day tix as credit towards the military tickets!

Now I have to make my 2010 plans! Yee Haw!

Nothing has been announced about an extension -- I said *if*, which is wishful thinking on my part.

I also visited the NY store last weekend to take advantage of the great incentives! I purchased points for BLT. My guide was terrific and extremely helpful in walking me through the process.

I wonder why DVC makes it so difficult to take advantage of incentive offers. If they opened up the incentives being offered in NY to anyone who called and made a deposit over the phone, it is likely that more memberships would have been sold. I realize that the idea is to make more money by requiring those at other locations to pay a higher rate, but I find the restrictions silly and short-sighted. I bet those individuals who were aware of the better incentives were frustrated and bitter to know that such incentives were out of their reach. Not the best way to start off a new member relationship.

Definitely agreed that the incentives could make many people feel excluded, frustrated and bitter.

The flip side is that they use it as a sales tactic for those who are able to take advantage of the offer....

I know in my case, after being on the "DVC fence" for about 4 years, just knowing that I was able to access this exclusive offer and buy in at the same price I was quoted for SS almost 4 years ago really put me over the edge.

If I had not felt the pressure of this very limited offer I probably wouldn't have gone forward with the purchase- I would have just continued to waffle I think.

When I closed on my BLT this past Sunday I heard about all you crazy purchasers. No names of course, but I was told about the people from SC who made a weekend of it, I was told about the person from NC. All of us DVC'ers are crazy and will go to the ends of the earth for that point bargain.
