We did a Disney cruise and then went to Universal for a few days afterwards. The cheapest return flight at MCO was over $400 a seat. I found a return flight from MLB for $120 a seat. I was bit apprehensive.....

We were a group of 10....4 adults, 6 kids. We drove from Orlando to Melbourne Airport. It was a small airport and reminded me of the show "Wings". I've flown (frequently) out of ISP and always thought of that airport as the one in "Wings", but MLB definitely fit better.

The employees at MLB were all so friendly and helpful- no one freaking out about the car being parked for too long, etc. Even the TSA seemed more friendly. There was 1, cafeteria-style, food place to eat in and it was before security. I have to admit, the food was actually pretty good. We ate, went thru secuirty and went to the gate- no hassles, very clean.

We did change planes, but for $120 a seat, we were all super and pleasantly surprised. I'd do it again in a heartbeat!

People who are renting a car and don't mind up to an hour drive to save money should always compare Orlando airfares with alternate airports such as Melbourne (MLB), Daytona Beach (DAB) and especially Tampa (TPA).

We always try to fly in and out of Melbourne when we're going to Disney's Vero Beach -- much shorter drive than MCO and airport is much easier..
