I saw a display the other day. Has anyone used these products or have thoughts about them? They run around $26.

There's a disclaimer they are not made by Merial.

What do you all think? Worth it?

Are you talking about the drops that go down the dog's back? If so we bought it and it burnt my dog. She lost her hair and had open sores. Almost like it ate her skin. It didn't bother our other dog, so I'm assuming she had some kind of allergy to it. We stick with giving them garlic now to keep the fleas away.

Yeah, that's the product. The one that even the packaging looks similar to Frontline's.

Good to know. I'll avoid it. Thanks.

How do you use the garlic on the dog? Topical or in their food?

I just started using a garlic product in my horse's food for the same reason--to keep flying insects off them as the weather warms.

My DD is in Orlando in college and is having a horrible time with fleas. I'm guessing every time the go to the dog park her dog is getting reinfested. DD has tried just about everything and they keep coming back. I just had her pick up some brewer's yeast w/ garlic pills in hopes that will help keep them at bay.

We still haven't found the magic formula so would love suggestions.

I know that different products work differently for each animal, and for my dog what works best is Biospot. Some animals do have allergic reactions to the spot-on treatments -- you just have to observe them very carefully when you first try a new product and be ready to throw them in the bathtub fast if they show any signs of a reaction.

Being in a sub-tropical climate, fleas are a big, year-round problem. I've used Biospot on the dog and both cats for years now, and for whatever reason, it's the only thing that works on them, or for the type of fleas they get, or whatever. I've tried all the big vet brands, and they didn't do anything at all for my animals. The Biospot keeps them completely flea-free, which is no small feat down here.

Just my experience!

We just sprinkle some garlic powder in their water.
