I booked the DCR back in March, for 3 nights starting the 20th of July.....1 person (+ 5 guests) £667.80

Flash sale price is £477

This is the 1st time a flash sale has fallen on our dates....is there anything I can do to try and take advantage of it??

base on what I've read in the other threads, I could

1. Ask for a cabin upgrade?

2. Ask for a HB upgrade?

or

3. Cancel with a charge and re-book?

Any suggestions gratefully received :-)

Thanks

I gather you're in the larger of the cabins so nowhere to upgrade to?

You could try adding a meal voucher plan to your booking - although I think you'd only be able to purchase it for you, not your guests.

Were you planning on buying a birthday cake? Or going to BBWWS? I'm just trying to think of things you could add to your booking.

Thanks Elaine.

We actually booked the cheaper cabin, because we prefer the layout :rolleyes1

Didn't think of adding a birthday cake, but we have two birthdays around that time, so that's definitely a possibility!

And as the 2 whose birthdays it is were planning on going to BBWWS with their free AP tickets....perhaps I could try upgrading with those as well (the rest of us weren't going to go due to the cost).

So it's as simple as that? Ask for upgrades, and there's a possibility they'll incorporate it within your original cost?

Does the revised total have to be greater than the original?

No the revised total doesn't need to be greater. They'll reduce the difference off your original balance once they have applied the upgrades you request if it still comes in cheaper. Sometimes you have to spell it out to them when asking for the upgrades....ask them if you can have the new discount applied (40%, 50%... etc).

I forgot to say..... If you only tried to upgrade something small like the birthday cake at at the new 50% rate...I doubt very much they would go with that and reduce your original package cost. You could chance it...but I can't see that working! :rotfl:

lol, perhaps that would be pushing it :rotfl:

Really helpful info. thanks!

I replied on the other flash sale thread Mark.

Just to say, yes, try adding on every extra you'd like to your original booking, and then when you phone to upgrade see what they say.

Also, you're outside the 60-day cancellation period, so if they refuse to allow you to add stuff to your package/reduce your package cost, you could just cancel and then re-book at the lower price, this would only cost you 10% of the cost of the original booking ie £67. So with the original price of £667, new price of £477 plus the cancellation fee £67, you'd still be saving around £120 on your original booking.

Thanks again Elaine.

This is what I did in the end, and the £120 saved will go towards a nice family meal out :thumbsup2

I asked about the cabin upgrade 1st, but that wouldn't have saved as much, and the adviser was clear that becauses we'd booked so far in advance, we wouldn't get a discount.

She was very helpful and freindly though, and said that if we'd chosen to upgrade to the same price or greater, she would have made an exception and Flashed it.

That's the only problem.. you'll get some who will do it and some that just wont and wont budge. I get no joy at all speaking to anyone from the UK line and have only got my upgrades and reduced package cost from the French team.

I'm glad to hear you at least got to get some money back though :thumbsup2

Great news, £120 is still a good saving and it looks like you will put it to good use. :goodvibes
