Going to Animal Kingdom & wondering which of these two restaurants (counter service? I think) offers a nicer atmosphere & meal. We always do the Rainforest Cafe in AK - but this time we want to be adventurous!! Also, since they are both counter service, is it possible to bring food from one of these establishments into the other if our group is split on which one to eat at? Or are they too far to apart to do that?

*side note: Does anyone recall which AK kiosk sells the potato parfait? We had it in 2001 and it was very yummy. Thanks! :flower:

::MickeyMo I vote for Flame Tree. Their food it great (yum, ribs!) and their seating area is really nice. Very peaceful and beautiful. They are very far apart...Flame Tree is by Discovery Island and Tusker House is in Africa. ::MinnieMo

I vote for Tusker House because the food there was AWESOME, I will be going again in May! It was enough to split actually!

::MickeyMo We were thinking of going to Tusker instead of Flame this year. Still totally can't decide yet. Though I like sitting by the river. When in May? We will be there in May as well. ::MinnieMo

OMG! I am totally not going in May!!! LOL I am going to be there on June 26th. Wishful thinking! I was there May 23-29 last year and had a great time, it was crowded but not that bad.

If you happen to like salmon, then you have to go to Tusker House! YUMMY salmon served with rice and veggies. I ate two plates of it for lunch last month. LOL

I tried the Tusker House and thought the food was gross. The chicken tasted strange and the salad wasn't that great.

I've been to FlameTree twice and it was great both times. I LOVE the pulled pork bbq sandwiches. It's the best counter service I've ever had at WDW. I can't wait to go again. :cool1: :cool1:

I've heard that Tusker is good, but we've not tried it yet.

Love both, but I prefer Flame Tree. You really can't go wrong with either. Win-win situation IMO. I just depends on what your in the mood for.

Is Flame Tree seating outdoor only, or is there an indoor area?

Flame tree seating is outdoors only, However there are roof structures over more than half of the tables, so you would be out of the rain, wind, birds.

Tusker House is my favorite counter service restaurant by far. I love the green beans, yum!

I've never eaten at the Tusker House so I have no opinion there but whenever we got to AK we make sure to have lunch at Flame Tree. My mom and I absolutely love their food.. delicious, especially the chicken :earsboy:

Tusker house is indoor and nice seating -the food is good especialy for the price-
Flame tree -Ribs Ribs Ribs but all outdoor seating
Try them and the seating will not matter (if it mattered at all) :hyper:

What is a potato parfait? Sounds interesting. I'm afraid it might not be there anymore, cause I've never seen it.

Shelly -

It was in AK in 2001. The stand/kiosk area was to the left of the Oasis when walking into AK. It was like a potato whipped up, with almost a taco consistency meat blended in, and full of spices. Both my husband & mother had it and declared it the best mini meal/snack. If anyone can identify the name & location of this mystery food, please do so!

I haven't eaten at Flame Tree, but both dh and I enjoyed both breakfast and dinner at Tusker House. We split the grilled chicken salad and a slice of cheesecake one day and thought both were tasty. Breakfast was your typical sausage, gravy, biscuits, eggs, etc. -- but good.

We ate at Flame Tree last year and loved it. It was our favorite counter service at WDW. We keep saying we should try Tusker house this year ... we'll see. It will be hard not going back to Flame Tree :cool1: :cool1:

We ate at Tusker House 2 times last trip (1st week of March). It was fantastic. There is a case outside of the restaurant entrance where you can view the dishes served. :)

We had chicken sandwiches which were YUMMY and 1/2 chicken which dh declared "great!".

I haven't tried the Flame Tree, but the Tusker House was excellent. I had the chicken meal and have heard that the salmon was wonderful as well! Yum! :)
