Flame Tree Birds

Is the seating area at Flame Tree still overrun with birds? We like the food, but the kids are scared to eat there.

Yes, the birds can still be quite agressive, as the guests persist in feeding them. Sorry, but if the birds scare the children, it's probably best to eat elsewhere.

Overrun is kind of a subjective term.
. . . can you walk around, yes
. . . are they aggressive, yes
. . . do they steak your food, yes
. . . are you a target for "droppings", yes

I won't eat there because I have a bird phobia.

They were pretty bad in the Yak & Yeti fast food court last year too.

Or did you mean they will stake out the food? Probably that. It's okay. We all have our bad days.

We eat there frequently as we love their ribs. The birds have always been awful and often they are aggressive as well.

This makes me so sad. If people didn't feed them, they wouldn't be so aggressive. We were there a week ago and the people in front of us kept throwing food at them despite the 3 signs that said DO NOT FEED THE BIRDS within pebble throwing distance (including the one right above their heads....). The 8 y/o with us was REALLY upset about it and loudly asked "momma, why are those people feeding the birds when it says not to? it could hurt them!" Yeah they stopped after I loudly repeated what she said too.....

Since we had kids that didn't want to eat at Flame Tree in June, we took our adult orders and went over to Pizzafari to make the kids happy (they really wanted pizza). We got to eat indoors, without the birds, and everyone was happy with their meals. No one seemed to care in the least that we brought food in from another restaurant or we would've gladly taken it elsewhere.
Just a thought to get away from the birds AND the weather.

I have some great pictures of a duck that stood expectantly beside my chair during a visit there. He stayed disappointed, as I obeyed the signs, but he was a beautiful duck. Not aggessive at all, just patiently staring.

We've had cats and dogs all my life, so we're used to getting stared at while we eat!

If I figure out how to post some pictures here, I'll put one up.

I can't eat anywhere outside at AK due to my bird phobia and the overly aggressive birds

I have HORRIBLE bird phobia and avoid eating outside at all times because they are so brave. I've had panic attacks many times at Disney over the birds but I still love it there despite my phobia.

I love Flame Tree and have lunch there at least once on every trip to WDW (12 trips in the last five years alone). I can't say I haven't noticed the birds, but they have never interrupted a meal or caused me to feel uncomfortable. So, if you are afraid of birds, it's probably not a good place to go, but it is a bit of an exaggeration to say that the place is "overrun" with birds or that the birds are "overly aggressive."

My oldest has a bird phobia that started when we were at FT when she was 3. This was one reason why we liked the Picnic in the Park while it was offered. We would find a bird free spot and eat in peace.
I think taking it to Pizzafari is a great idea and will probably do that next trip.

Sounds just like us - our yellow lab just STARES at us - no barking or whining. Just. Staring. Like he's willing us to just. drop. one. piece. I think HE thinks he's using some sort of jedi mind trick or telekenesis. Maybe the same with the duck?

A friend of ours had his plate pulled off the table by one of those birds I love the food, but do wish people would stop feeding them as I am the one in my family deathly afraid of birds!!
