Hi all, I'm from Iowa and only get in the sun for half of the year (or freeze my behind off!) I realize that the sun is much more powerful in Florida. I have two questions...1. I have sunscreen in my foundation and moisturiser (SPF 15), do you all apply extra sunscrean on top of that? :confused3
2. Please recommend your favorite, I am only concerned about the face. The rest of the body can handle the cheap stuff. :flower:
Thanks!! :teeth:

Definitely apply an added sunblock over your makeup. SFP 15 isn't going to make a dent in the Florida sun! ;)

I found that out a couple weeks ago, I ended up with a red nose. My arms are peeling now.....

I like Neutrogena Dry-Touch Sunblock SPF 30. It soaks right in and does not have a greasy feel. I don't break out from it either. It has UVA/UVB Protection and Parsol 1789 in it. Waterproof, PABA-free. Wal-Mart and CVS carry it.

I like Arbonne. I use it in place of my moisturizer when I know I'll be outdoors for a while.

Thanks all...one more if I can... You put the suncreen on after your make-up? or before? :confused3
Sorry I'm not a sun expert, we just don't really have to worry about it in the midwest :rotfl:

Since we "perspire" quite a bit, you may want to consider a sweat proof/waterproof lotion. BullFrog makes a really good waterproof and Coppertone makes a great Sport lotion. Have fun!

Don't forget a hat! I live in CT and we spend most weekends on the water with our boat. The sun in FL in June was so hot and bright. First stop at the MK was to buy a visor. (Had sunglasses too)

I use Clinique SPF 25, hat and sunglasses. Don't forget your ears too and back of neck, those areas could easily be forgotten.

Since it is so hot and sweaty, I skip the makeup except for some bronzer and mascara and lip gloss. And the lip stuff has sunscreen too. If you are out all day, plan on reapplying!

Your SPF-15 make-up will not cut it in the FL sun! I've tried the Neutrogena Dry Touch and it's very nice. I agree with those who said to look for waterproof and sweat-proof.

Put the sunscreen on first, and then if you have to put on make-up. Preventing a burn is more important than make-up IMHO.

I wear Base Makeup that has SPF 15 and more, they sell it anywhere. :sunny: Than, I wear a HAT which I NEVER do here at Home. ;) I also wear SPF 15-50 on certain areas, as I do not want to peel. I am hardly ever IN the sun, here at home, unless its to start my Summer Tan. :goodvibes :sunny:

Eucerine makes an "extra protective moisture lotion" for "sensative facial skin" that is SPF 30.

OMG. totally forgot my sunscreen when I went in February, and that sun was so bad in my nose area and around my eyes. Dried my skin out some kinda bad, and I had a shiny nose. I got so dark too.

I bought SPF50 Copperstone for my April trip. FLORIDA SUN IS CRUCIAL
My skin still feels so dry. :(

Another thing to remember, if you wear your hair with a part, put sunblock on it! I always get bad sunburns in my part if I forget the sunscreen, which I usually do at the start of the summer season, and it hurts a lot. Then when it peels it looks like dandruff  .

Coppertone makes a great oil-free suncreen/moisturizer. It feels weightless. I'm pretty fair, and it keeps my cheeks and nose from getting burned in the middle of the summer. :)

Wow Im so glad this thread was started! NE Ohio here so sunscreen here is non-existent! (Or rather not used, theres no need.) lol

So heres my possibly silly question. Does sunscreen break your face out? I have VERY sensitive skin and tend to break out from very little things in moisturizers and makeup. Even the sensitive/oil-free brands of make up give me problems at times. I'm planning on testing out some sunscreens before we go down there and I was wondering if anyone had any recommendations for people with skin like mine? Thanks so much! :wizard:

Don't mean to laugh (okay, yes I do). This is something I can see happening to me. The visual alone of a bright red line in my scalp is making me giggle...of course I'm doped up on nausea meds right now (horrible stomach flu) so most anything is making me giggle. But my typing is pretty good for being so "drunk" on phenergan don't you think? :teeth:
