FL. Residents-Let's Post our rates/dates!

Wow - those rates are higher than I was expecting for moderates and deluxes. And what a bummer about WL. I think I'm pretty much out of business for WL for 10/14 - 10/17 even if AP rates do come out.

Guess it's off to Expedia to see what I can get for a moderate.

Congrats to everyone who got what they needed!

Pluto4me...I know your question was directed at Mousemom218 but just thought I'd let ya know what the CM I talked to had said.....I called to see if I could get the discount applied to my existing ressie at WL and was told that because the WL was already booked solid, that was basically why there were no rooms available with the discount :guilty: No need to discount rooms that are already selling is the way it was pretty much explained  If there was no availibility at POR or FQ then they wouldn't have the discount either if they way she explained it is correct :confused3 Did you mean nothing was availible at all? or just nothing availible with the discount? Anyway, sounds like not many of us lucked out with the FL resident discount at WL:(

Hi Scoootch:

Thanks for your reply. That was the explanation I received as well from the CM I was on the phone with yesterday. I already had an existing reservation at POFQ that I was trying to modify, there were no rooms at all at POR for my dates when I originally booked. The CM was perplexed about the limited amount of discounted rooms for FL Residents because she said she is usually taking these kind of reservations for days after they are first released. Not frozen out an hour and change after the discount is first released.

It is just a little disapointing because I couldn't book it under the FL BRP at first because I was not in the 120 day time frame and then they lower it to 60 days and I still can't utilize FL BRP. Oh well. :guilty:

I got $114 for POR 10/13-10/16..I was quoted $84 for All Stars was told POP was sold out. A little higher than I was hoping. but better than the $149 I had. :earboy2:

Planning a trip over Thanksgiving. Will be staying in Disney Nov 27-30th.
Called today to ask a question pertaining to Florida residency. Question was, Am I considered a FL resident, even though we own a home but only stay there 2 weeks out of the year?
If anyone has the answer to the above question that would be great.
Anyway, asked for FL rates at GF she gave me conceirge for $400 then asked about AAA because was not sure if I was considered FL resident. She gave me a rate of $391. What's up with that? She, herself could not understand it and after she hung up with me she was going to make note of this. I wound up booking AAA rate. Is it decent for where we are staying? Have not done conceirge at GF. I plan on calling tomorrow again to make sure FL rate has not changed.
Thanks-
Christine
I could be wrong, but I think you have to have a Florida driver's license. They do ask that you show proof of residence when you check in.

You are 100% correct, you will be asked for FL ID & owning a home here isn't ID. You will need a picture ID which could be either a FL driver's license, Fl state issued ID (along with state issued ID card, they can also ask you for your voters registration card), a current FL college ID or military ID. Without a picture ID, when you go to check in, they can & more than likely change your rate to rack rate. I have lived here for 14 years & out of these 14, I owned a condo in CT for 9 years..that didn't make me a CT resident :confused3
There is a post that I answered the other day, I did a copy & paste of the actual proof you needed directly from the offical Disney Web site...

MouseSavers.com just took the FL rate off their site for Oct-Dec. It was there this morning. What's up with that? I wanted to check the rates for mods and deluxes during regular season.

We are traveling November 10-15 for a girl's SSW and Food and Wine Weekend and a member of our party is a Florida resident. We were told that unless we checked in with her our room rate would be changed to rack rate. So, we will have to find something :rolleyes1 to do until she arrives.

She booked our room via the website. We are staying at CSR with three adults with a water view room for $390. We thought that was a little off, POP was about $200.00 more. We thought maybe it was a computer glitch. However, she keeps checking her reservation online and it shows all three adults and the dates correctly. Has this happened to anyone else?

I have found the website not always accurate, especially when it comes to money. Once my dates were compeletly incorrect. I had to call the CM told me everything was OK, but that the website gets a little screwy sometimes. I would call and check your ressie just so there's no surprises. It doesn't sound correct to me. Looks like 5 nights at a rate of $78 a night at a moderate, plus 1 extra adult for waterview and during regular season. Definitely something strange here. Maybe it's not 5 nights....this price is even cheaper than what a CM would pay, and they usually get the best rates. :confused3

$84 plus tax using the Florida Resident code for Pop Century October 13-16 and November 10-13, both during regular season.

That is correct, unless she is with you, you will be charged rack rate.

I just went in & checked your dates & info... I got the same $390, yet when I dropped the days to 3 (that is what I would book for me) & got $433 :confused3 take it and run!!! comes to like $60 per night

:confused3 I went in and read the terms and conditions on this rate here is what it says (cos I thought about booking then dropping the last 2 days...)

I am not sure, but this is the first time I have ever seen FL resident rates with a penalty of 46 days :confused3 that is even an odd amount of days...DT use to be 45??? oh well, Disney keeps changing....

I just went and checked different dates & with the higher rate, it even says the same for the terms & conditions.... yet when I called the other night for my FL rate, I was told 5 days prior for a full refund....
the way I am looking at it is, if you want the convience of using the web to book FL rates, then you will have a 46 day cancellation policy. If you choose to call & remain on hold for x amount of minutes, be asked 101 questions, then you get the 5 day policy!!!

Just booked AKL standard room for $169 Oct. 12-15.
Had Pop for $84, but decided to try a deluxe for the first time.
Also looked at WL, but they didn't have any standard rooms available.

If you book on line it is 46 days for cancellations, 5 days if you book via telephone. However, If you look at your online reservation on the Web, it has the 5 day penalty stated. When I booked online I had to check a box to agree to the penalty, or it wouldn't book the room

I have a ressie already booked for WL 11/27 for 7nts boyfriend will be in the room also ( he is from Ft Lauderdale). I am going to try to get fl resident rate applied to our room. Since he will be with me at checkin to show his Id. I will be on the phone early tomorrow and hope for the best. Wish me luck!

Already, and added the Fl. Resident rate on to it.....didn't seem to save much....she ONLY had Preferred View available and I have NO idea WHAT I paid, as I owed $398.00 on my original ressie, and now I owe $313.00! :confused3 I am thinking of canceling and going for the AAA rate instead. :guilty: I am so confused I have NO IDEA what TO DO! :confused3 Anyone have any suggestions?

Poohbear123-I would call CRO and get an exact breakdown of your daily rate before and after discount per night and then add the tax and see where you stand.

Have any of you received a confirmation letter via regular mail if you booked online? I'm wondering if I will have anything in hand becasue I don't have a printer. I realize I can write the ressie number down but would like a paper confirmation as well.

Thanks to everyone who responded. I did find out through the Florida DMV that since I am a part time resident I could obtain a FL drivers license "Valid in Florida only". So, I do have that option. My AAA rate at the GF was better than the FL residency, but I'll keep checking.

Christine
