FL Resident Annual Pass Questions

DH and I decided to get annual passes for us and our DD's (9 & 4). We are FL residents and would like to take advantage of the payment plan they offer. We are not planning to go until December, however I wanted to purchase the passes online before so that I can make FP+ reservations for the trip. I have read that the passes aren't active until we go to guest relations once we arrive to activate them. However, I have also read that with the FL resident online purchase using the payment plan, they are active immediately. Does anyone know which is the case? If they are active immediately, how do you suggest I go about making FP+ reservations? I, obviously, don't want an 'active' pass that I don't plan to use for 2 months.
Thank you very much!

If you purchase a new pass on-line (either paying in full or using the FL monthly payment plan) you won't receive an active pass until you physically go to a Park Ticket Window or Guest Relations Location at WDW to activate the pass. You can link the pre-purchase to MDE which will allow you to make advance FP+ selections.

That is what I thought but recently read the payment plan activates the pass immediately. Thank you!

The payments begin immediately, as far as I know, but the pass year begins when you activate it. That part's a little confusing.

Ok! I am fine with the immediate payments! Happy to see it is active until we get there. I figured that would be the case since they need to verify FL resident status.

Does anyone know if I need to bring ID for my son when we go to activate at guest relations? Or do I just need my license?

I called guest services to question this. I am already a pass holder but was purchasing for my daughter. I wanted to do the payment plan. CM told me that the pass activation date will be the date I purchase it. I waited a week, called back and just put it all on my charge card. My daughter is not going until mid July so I didn't want to waste a month.

The start date doesn't start until you visit the parks and the pass is activated. So you can buy her pass now, but the year won't start until the day you go in July
