I have a family member that lives in Florida if i book my reservations using family’s address what does Disney ask for when you check in . I have an ID card that says I'm a residence. Could i get away with getting the Florida rate :D I went to get an FL annual pass

If I know Disney, they will have something that will trip you up. I believe you have to show your driver's license when you check into a Disney hotel.

Also, for any type of Florida rate for passes, etc., I believe you're going to have to either show a driver's license or a picture ID.

I agree with jfulcer, and as a FL resident, I think you are trying the cheat the system.

Okay..the jig is up...the Disney police found you!

They'll probably tie you in a boat and send you through a Small World 500 times until you become a glassy eyed lunatic.

Sorry, can't help you, don't have any Fla. relatives...wish I did...never mind, I didn't mean that!

I have goten an anual pass in the past and i don't remember what ID they asked for to activate it.

Disney requires you to show a driver's license when you check in. They will then see you are not from Florida. Just take the rate that is meant for you and don't risk ruining your family's vacation to save a few bucks.

Then it sounds like you'll just have to take your chances and see, won't you????:smooth:

If I have to live in this God awful state to qualify for discounts so should you. :o :p

Edited to add: Oh I see you live in New Jersey. So maybe you do understand.

You can check on Mousesavers.com...they have all the info you'll need on how to qualify for discounts and what ID you need. From what I read it
Sounds like it's pretty tough to get the discounts and not actually be a resident. Also you might just want to call the hotel directly and ask what you'll need.

My question is this...Is your Florida ID card expired? If it's still "valid" I can see you getting away with it.

However, I guess it is more of a moral/ethical question and what your comfort level is. Personally, I couldn't and wouldn't do it, but there are others who would have no problem.

As long as you have a valid FL driver's license then you should have no problem getting FL AP or FL resident resort rates. That's what must be shown to get either.

My parents live in FL about 6 months out of a year. She said they asked for their FL driver's license to get the FL residence rate.

I have relatives living in Florida, but I don't use them for cheap tickets, etc. I do use them for rooms once in a while, but they live in Ft. Lauderdale and that is too far a drive for me for a day.

I usually wait until I can get cheap air and hotels.

so Miss Jasmine, why is it a god awful state? And what part do you live in?
But I am sure other people do this.

Is the GOD-AWFUL part to live in......the rest I can handle! ;) And YES they REALLY look at your I/D when you check in.....they have commented on my Blonde Hair when IN the Picture my hair is Brown---like it is NOW!!!! ;)

I'm planning a trip this summer so I've been reading everything I can get my hands on. :p Brinbaum's offical WDW guide for 2003 says that they will ask for photo ID when you check in. If your Florida card has your photo on it, but it's not a valid driver's license or state ID, they may just ask you for back up ID to prove you are a resident. :) I wouldn't do it, but that's just me. They will probably offer great rates to the general public too. I know they did last year. :)

It's a fantastic rate, you lucky Florida residents you!! :p

I live on the Space Coast, actually a very nice part of Florida. Great economy, beautiful homes, good industry, etc. Still I hate it, I have hated it ever since I moved here over 13 years ago. Come August and September I REALLY REALLY HATE IT. I guess maybe it's the lack of cultural offerings, some of the transient residents of the older variety, poor education system, bad infrastructure, unplanned development, city councils (run by older population) that want to keep the older population happy by not raising taxes meanwhile public services stink and do not grow with development, I could go on and on. On the surface Florida looks pretty and nice, a great place to live. Dig around a little, it's a whole different story. But of all the places to be in Florida, I believe this is one of the best and for that I am grateful. :)

When I got the rate, I had to show my driver's license.

This is lifted directly from the Walt Disney World website:

Proof of Florida residency is required -- you must provide any one of the following: Florida driver's license, Florida state-issued ID card (must have Florida address), current utility statement with your name and Florida address along with a corresponding picture ID, Florida voter's registration card with corresponding picture ID, a college ID for a Florida college, or a Florida-based military ID.

We're military Florida residents, who are stationed out of state at the moment. We don't have FL driver's licenses. We've always just shown our FL Voters card.

As you can see from above, FL-based military personnel don't have to be residents, they just have to be stationed there.

I'm not a Florida resident, but hope to be one in the not too distant future.

In reference to "cheating the system," head the advice. There used to be special rates for stockholders until too many people bought one share to qualify and ruined it for everyone with a significant amount of stock.

An awful lot of Florida residents would be rightfully upset if they lost their rates due to abuse.

By all means, get the best deals you can, but please keep everything honest.

Don't feel too bad about not being able to get the Florida Resident rate. I work for the State of Florida and have an office in Miami but still can't qualify.

I am at a site location in Tennessee so my residence and driver's license are both in TN. I asked about using my State of Florida picture ID for discounts but would still need to provide either a voter registration card or a utility bill in my name to a Florida address.
