We are co siding a fixed week purchase for PVB. Does anyone know if you can rent the actual week to someone? Or do yo have to convert to points and rent only the points?
If you own a Guaranteed Week, you can rent it to a third party. However, the rental will have to be for the entire 7-night period from Sunday check-in to Sunday check-out. You could not break up the week and rent it for a few nights each to different parties.

You don't rent points, you rent a reservation. It can be for the fixed week or you can cancel the fixed week reservation and book a different time period for the renter.
I'm new here, but I believe you can also cancel your GW and get the points instead which revert to regular points. The thing with GW is that they automatically book it for you at 11 months, so you just have to call then to cancel it if you want to use the points elsewhere. But I would imagine that now that GW's are becoming more available those sites like Dave's could add a feature to be able to rent them specifically. Maybe he'd have an email alert that goes out when someone lists their GW. Just speculating though.... : )
Yes, you can rent your fixed week as a week or, alternatively, opt out of your fixed week for the applicable points and just rent one or more point reservations for any time of year. However, there is a rule on this site that may prevent you from posting your fixed week as avaialble on the rent/trade board more than 30 days out from date of arrival. The rent/trade board does not allow trying to rent an already existing reservation with a room and speicifc time period more than 30 days from arrival date. I believe that was created to prevent predatory reserving and renting on this site where a site member would use his points and make a number of reservations exactly 11 months out for difficult to get times, e.g., the first two weeks of Dec, and then put them up for rent on this board after making the reservations. That rule seems to make little sense when a fixed week is involved and perhaps the moderators should consider creating an exception.

I have a question about opting out and booking elsewhere. If you want to book online at 8am/11 months, is that possible with a GW? Or do you have to wait until 9am when you can call and release the GW first? Can you maybe release the guaranteed week 11 months and a day in advance, in order to free up the points for the 8am booking?
Not sure how often this would be an issue, but trying to understand all the pros and cons of a guaranteed week.
I am not sure how it works in opting out although I assume you can cancel even before 11 months out from your set week. Nevertheless, the situation you describe would not happen. You cannot use the points to book at another resort until 7 months out.
We just bought fixed week 49 at PVB, so I can answer your one question. You can cancel your fw at 11 mos plus a few days if you want to then book traditionally.

It's across the board - online booking opens at 8 am eastern while MS opens at 9am to take calls. What or when you are looking to book does not change that.
