Five Guys moved into an adjacent town last spring and from the moment they arrived, the parking lot has been full. DH is out of the country so I decided to give their cheeseburger a try. It is now September and the lot is still full and people were lined up to the door. I ordered a cheeseburger with everything and what a huge mistake! It was one of the best burgers I have ever had and I am afraid it could be the beginning of an addiction. Furthermore, they have french fries made with raw potatoes, not frozen and serve malt vinegar at the condiment counter. Those I resisted but it was extremely difficult. I am glad that they are a bit out of the way.

Dont try the cajun fries if you don't want to gain an extra 80 lbs and spend an extra 40 a week on gas.

I LOVE their french fries!! The closest one to us is about 20 miles away so that is probably a good thing.

Sorry Dawn. I think 5 guys is responsible for at least 30 if the 50 lbs I just had to lose. Best burgers ever! And the fries? Oh my god! Just glad they don't have milkshakes.

Oh I can't believe you didn't eat the fries. I'm not sure which I love more the fries or the burgers?!? :rotfl:

I LOVE their fries. It's cool how they have the board that tells you what city the potatoes came from. Dawn, you have to try them with the vinegar. Just make sure you order a small. You will still get enough for over 2 people.

Just get someone's aunt to drive you, and don't pay for gas or their time. ;)

Double Yum! I used to only be able to eat there when I was visiting my mom, but they just opened one about 10 minutes from my house.

Hmmm, maybe I'll have that for dinner tomorrow....

WOW, that's a great idea. I think I might try that. Closest one to me is 40 miles away. In fact, I know someone that would be happy to drop everything for anyone and drive them, say...up to 200 miles away!

It was very hard. I lived in Maine when I was little where we always ate our fries with vinegar. My mother used to make me french fries for lunch from raw potatoes when I walked home from school for lunch. I saw the "small servings" and when they filled the cup they threw another cup into the brown bag. After I ate my burger I consoled myself with a few peanuts but it wasn't the same. :sad2:

Personally, I think In and Out as well as Whataburger makes better (franchise) burgers than they do. The fries are really good though.

We have three local places where I live that made a recent magazine's top 50 burgers in my state that, IMO, do run circles around Five Guys.

But, our restaurant is new too and the parking lot is always full, like you said. I just hope it isn't enough to put the local guy around the corner out of business.

We have like 10 Five Guys in the area. I have only been once. That was enough. I just doesn't do anything for me....the burgers nor the fries. I'd rather have Fuddrucker's. Yuuuuummmmmmmmmmm

I've never heard of Five Guys, from pictures it looks good though! And luckily there's one 7 miles away! :woohoo:

I can walk to my closest Five Guys... my son is considering working there.. how about that?

If I start walking sometimes you can smell it..

We don't have those chains down here, but my mom read an article somewhere recently that ranked Five Guys and In and Out as the Best Burgers in the country - not sure who came first though.
