Okay, so say you go deep sea fishing. Say you catch the monstro fish of your life. Do you get to bring it on board with you? Will the chef cook it up?

Does DCL have an onboard taxidermist who will stuff and mount the beast on a Mickey plaque so that you can take it home as a souvenir?

Or do you have to throw all your fish back?

Thanks!

If you're talking about the excursion at Castaway Cay, it's catch and release.

If you take an independent charter, I don't think you could bring it on board. We didn't catch anything :scratchin: on our charter in Cozumel, but if we had, I think the crew would have kept it. I imagine we also could have had it taxidermed (I know, it's not a real word!), but most of them these days do it off a picture.

Hope this helps!

What charter did you use in Cozumel? Was it independent or a DCL one? What were the details? We have a Western planned for next fall & deep sea fishing would appeal to my DH & DSs. By the way, we used to live in Waldorf.

We live in St. Mary's City. Small world, huh?

In Cozumel, it was one of the many people who line the street offering: rental cars, snorkling, hair braiding, etc. In a nutshell, DON'T DO IT! By the time you get to Cozumel, there really isn't much fishing to be done. It's the heat of the day, and we only had one bite in over 4 hours. Basically, the guy on the street speaks very good English, but the "crew" of two on the boat, didn't speak a word. No place to sit down, a cheap cooler with 2 bottled waters and 2 cokes, and 4 fishing rods.

The Castaway Cay fishing trip was really nice though. My husband went and caught a lot of fish! It books fast, so you need to do it at the 60 day out point. He went on the afternoon portion, and caught several fish as well as a really big shark.

Have a great time, feel free to PM me if you have further questions. Lisa

TKD Lisa:

I have a brother and sister in calvert county!

Can't wait to do the CC fishing.

One word of caution, though:

I called DCL at 8 am on the 60th day. Got right through. Booked excursions A, B & C. Got to bottom fishing. The woman said "Oh, we don't book it here anymore, you book it once you are on CC"

I told her I was disappointed, and hung up and left for work.

On the way to work, I thought about it and something sounded "fishy" Got to work, looked up DCL on the web, got the number, called in cold (No ressie number, nothing). The rep found my data and booked the fishing right away!

Faxed me the confirmation immediately after.

Now the same trip is sold out!

Fishing is $110. All equipment and bait provided. Drinks too.

It is NOT on the web page, but those who have recently received a brochure from DCL (we didn't) say it is in there.

It had been on the web, than due to "Vendor problems" the whole thing was suspended. Than the people on the boards said it was being done again, just not listed on the boards.
