Hello all Is fishing allowed in Bay Lake? My husband is dying to know. I'm pretty sure you can fish in the pond, but what about in the lake, from the bank. Thanks for the answer. I know y'all will have one. We love all the advice that the regulars have.:worship: Can't wait for our first trip to the fort June 13th 2010

You can fish in Bay Lake. Just not from the docks or the beach area. All fishing is catch and release only.

Absolutely, :thumbsup2
You can fish in any of the canals, ditches, ponds, AND the Lake at the Fort.
HOWEVER, do not fish the docks or the beach area,,they get a little ill bout that.
Fishing also is strictly catch and release.
So tell hubby to bring his Fish'n Pole and be sure to invite me ! (if I'm there at the same time you are,:thumbsup2)

So you can fish from shore and do not need to book one of the guided fishing excursions? Does he need a license to fish at WDW?

DH wants to fish when we go to WDW next time and I'm in charge of gathering all the info.

Thanks!

Yes you can fish from the shore, no license requied. It's private property. :thumbsup2

Just returned and witnessed a family out on a guided fishing trip, the pontoon boat was tied up to the Wilderness Lodge dock, fishing right there! And catching nice size bass too!!

Frank this is hubby i was wondering what is best in bay lake :confused3 live or artificial bate we saw a guide fishing with shiners last year by the dock at WL he was catching fish but not any big ones:)

I am a big fan of live baits.
I like shinners,,but at the Fort, you havta bring them with you or run to a local bait shop and get them.
However, most likely its the larger fish that'll hit the lures/plastics, giving you a better quality fish,,but you have to work much harder with lures and plastics.

Anyone know if there is good fishing in the river near the Treehouse Villas?

My husband is an avid fisherman and plans to do some fishing on our next trip to the world. I'm trying to find out as much info for him as possible.

Thanks!

:confused3 ask him to PLEASE let us know how the fishing is in the river near the Treehouse Villas.(After ya'll go,:thumbsup2)

When do ya'll plan on going ?

We aren't going until May 2011 again. We were just there in Sept and then I went with friends in Feb. DH does not enjoy Disney at all, so it's best if I spread the trips out for him. LOL

I own DVC at SSR so we might try out the Treehouse Villas next time. Or maybe VWL so we can be on Bay Lake so he can fish there.

I will be sure to report on fishing after our trip, even though its so long away!

Yes you can but watch out for this guy.:scared1:

I had quite a tussle with him last trip to the Fort and he got the better of me...2 legs, 1 arm and 4 fingers. But I'll get him next time.:thumbsup2

Yikes! I'll be sure to tell hubby to watch out for the gators. Maybe he'll stick to Bay Lake for fishing.
