We just got back for WDW the beginning of December and while we were there we took the plunge and joined the Vacation Club. For our first trip we booked a One Bedroom at HHI for the third week in May, the 21st through 26th.

I would like to try fishing while I am there, but I don't want to go out on the Family Fishing Adventure by myself, there is no way my wife would go and the kids are too young. Anyone know of any group charters down there that I could get in on? How about fishing from the pier, is that any good?

I also thought about trying to find someone else who is in the same situation as me and splitting the cost of the Family Fishing Adventure with another person or two. Anyone interested?

My DS(17) loves to fish and crab from the pier. He would stay out there 24/7 if we let him. You could ask at check-in or in the community hall if they know of someone else desiring to share a boat. We did this when we were in Hawaii through the conceirge, the neat thing was we shared with a fellow DVC member.

We fished from the pier and had some luck. My kids spent an entire day fishing...was the cheapest day of the week!

We did not go but there were others visiting that were looking to share the fishing adventure. My guess is that others like you will be there hoping and looking.

I would go ahead and call the front desk and ask what your chances are of finding someone to split the trip with.

We've done shark fishing through Low Country Nature Tours the last two summers. They hold the contract with Disney to do their fishing trips so if you go to the desk, they will point you towards them. Here's their phone number if you want to give them a call directly -- Scott, Low Country Nature Tours, 843-683-0187.

We go as a family so we are never in need of anyone else joining us. I never would have thought that I would enjoy shark fishing (I am definately a city girl), but it has become a highlight not only of my kids trip, but of mine too. To experience what can be caught and see the reactions on my kids face, is priceless. We've not only caught sharks, but rays (bullnose & stingray). Quite an experience. And, I've had a lot of fun pulling my own catchs in too.

The highlight last year was when Capt. Scott tossed his net over into the water to catch shad that we used for bait. My kids loved scooping them up. :teeth:

Depending on how old your children are, you might be surprised by how much they enjoy the experience. Our DS5 went this year and last. If you decide to take the kids, just make sure and bring some hand wipes as you'll want to make sure and wash their hands if they do touch any fish.

And, on the way out to the fishing spot, we've not only seen dolphins but big sea turtles cruising by. :cool1:

We've also spent a lot of time crab fishing off the pier. One year, my DS pulled a diamond backed turtle out of the water in his net. That was the talk of the resort. It was really neat to see but I tell you, that was one angry turtle by the time he went back into the water. :earseek:

Your going to love Hilton Head.....and welcome to DVC! :cool1:
