Firsts, Fourths, and Farewells (4/28 Back to the Future!)

So, off we went to take in some of the hidden sights in Germany while trying to help Kim Possible with saving the world, one pavilion at a time.

We saved Germany from the mad scientist :yay:, and just in time, for our
lunch ADR was almost ready. Good thing, too, given the yummy pretzel
bread that we were all salivating for. :goodvibes

My favorite mission! :cool1: I hope you posted the pictures that crack me up everytime. Be back later to see them!

If it wasn't clear, each of those images is a link to the videos J took of the Germany Kim Possible Mission.

:woohoo: for saving Germany! The Capell family triumphs again :thumbsup2

I was hoping the gang would as X and I were returning from our cruise around the world and were getting hungry! :goodvibes

My favorite mission! :cool1: I hope you posted the pictures that crack me up everytime. Be back later to see them!

No pics - just videos of this one.
J was too busy trying to actually play the game!

Unfortunately, as you'll hear for yourself, a
certain someone :headache: :lmao: decided that was the perfect moment to
call me on my cell phone.

In my defense, I was busy spending my cruise around the world rescheduling our lunch plans.
After getting called by my friend, I had to call Mom and figure out when she wanted to reschedule lunch.
I then called J to see what he thought so we were all on the same page.

It's not my fault he can't parallel process.
And in this case, all he had to do was see a 4-letter word while listening to me on the phone
(which by the way he caught on film so he could even look later if he needed to).
It's not like I was calling for him to perform rocket science... :confused3

:rotfl: I love those beer steins. I crack up just looking at them (cause I can't the video to play - have no idea why). Ok - I must admit, I was on my third adult beverage the time I did this mission so thank you for refreshing my memory as to the end of the mission. :rolleyes1

X and I found the gang as they were finishing up saving the world in the Germany courtyard.
And since both saving the world and sailing around it make a person hungry, we were headed to one of our favorite lunch locales – Biergarten.
And boy were we in luck!
It was Oktoberfest!

Author’s Note: For those who have never been, it’s always Oktoberfest here in Biergarten. Shhhhhh

We checked in at the podium and then grabbed some shots of the scenery.

Disney2011DayFour113.jpg

Then it was time to head inside.
X refers to this restaurant at the Dwarf’s House.
That’s because it looks like a village straight out of Snow White.
It takes the authentic feel of the inside of the Mexican pavilion and definitely puts a fairy-tale twist to it.
Complete with full moon and working water wheel, you can almost see the dwarves coming over the hill singing “Heigh Ho.”
Disney2011DayFour115.jpg

Disney2011DayFour114.jpg

Disney2011DayFour117.jpg

In the center of the “village” is a stage ready to celebrate Oktoberfest!
Disney2011DayFour116.jpg

We were seated a table with a nice view and the kids were rarin’ to go.
They love their steins of root beer here!
Disney2011DayFour118.jpg

Disney2011DayFour119.jpg

“Ticky Tacky Ticky Tacky Oi Oi Oi!”
We were seated just in time for the 1:05 show of Oktoberfest Musikanten – one of our favorite live entertainments at Walt Disney World!
Everyone raised their glasses and the show began!
To commemorate the occasion, how about a little clip art?

Disney2011DayFour120.jpg

Disney2011DayFour122.jpg

Disney2011DayFour123.jpg

Then the food.
In between songs, we dug in to the lovely German buffet.
My first round was some meatballs, bratwurst with sauerkraut (of course), salami, potatoes, schnitzel, and that wonderful pretzel bread.
The food was so good, it deserves some clip art as well!
Disney2011DayFour125a.jpg

Uncle J loaded up his plate as well:
Disney2011DayFour127a.jpg

The Kids Platter as we call it – macaroni and cheese and an apple.
Disney2011DayFour126.jpg

X was busy dancing and coloring as we all dove into our food.
Disney2011DayFour128.jpg

And the band kicked it into high gear!
It’s such a great ambiance to enjoy such a great lunch.
Disney2011DayFour129a.jpg

The “sets” each consist of the entire band playing several songs and then various members breaking off to play some cultural instruments.
These consist of the glockenspiel (sp?), the “Ricola horns” as I call them, and the hand bells (sometimes “dueling” hand bells).

Disney2011DayFour133.jpg

Disney2011DayFour134.jpg

Disney2011DayFour137a.jpg

Each show has several different elements so it’s become a tradition of ours to stay for at least two shows and really take our time to enjoy our meal.
Of course, no dining experience can be complete without some details being explored inside the restaurant!
Disney2011DayFour140.jpg

Disney2011DayFour141.jpg

Before the second show started, my friend from work appeared nearby with his family in tow.
The girls instantly were excited to see each other (even though they met for the first time that morning).
How’s this for adorable?
Disney2011DayFour145a.jpg

And then the beer kicked it.
Not sure what goes into that root beer, but the kids hit the dance floor with a passion!
There’s a reason they love to get their wiggles out here!

Disney2011DayFour171.jpg

It was a blast and so much fun.
Next was the rounds of dessert that apparently I forgot to photograph.
Probably because I was too busy eating them all.
But Biergarten is a must for us on every trip!

Alas, all good things come to an end.
We bid “auf wiedersehen” to my friends and headed out.
But first, we had to stroll through the stores.
We outfitted DS like a true German for our Hats Around the World souvenir:
Disney2011DayFour178.jpg

And then Mom just had to take a picture of all of the cuckoo clocks.
Check out what comes out of each one:

Disney2011DayFour180-8.jpg

Finally, we just had to stop in the newly opened shop – Karamelle Kuche.
You can smell the caramel all the way from the courtyard and it just draws you in.
Inside you can watch as they create their golden masterpieces.
MMmmmmmmm.

Disney2011DayFour186.jpg

Ok, so now I'm hungry.
Tune in next time and we re-trace our steps for some new adventures!

OK, so I'm geeky enough to wonder, "Hmmm... what the heck does Jubel Trubel Heiterkeit actually mean?" :confused3

Good ol' google, the first thing I got (well, other than an all-German page of text) was this rather surprising video, which, while certainly family-friendly, has NO place on a Disney board: :surfweb:
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=J1n4yNfhwNM

Then I added the word "translate" to my search, and, voila:
"jubilation, hurly-burly, cheerfulness" :banana::dance3: :cheer2:

As was quite clear from all the photos, there was an abundance of jubilation and cheerfulness. And the hurly-burly was certainly personified in the musicians. :goodvibes

Uncle J loaded up his plate as well:
Disney2011DayFour127a.jpg

It was loaded up a bit more than that, actually, but it took me a few moments to realize "oh, yeah -- pictures." popcorn::

Disney2011DayFour137a.jpg

Those would be the Alpen horns.

Definitely a fun place with pretty good food. (I'm not one for wursts, but there was still enough for me, as you could tell from my plate.) Certainly recommend coming here, especially if you can time it well enough for at least one if not two shows. :thumbsup2

What a fun update! The pictures of the kids dancing are just adorable. :)

You posted all the yummy treats at Karamell Kuche but didn't say if you ended up trying any of them?

Oops. :)
This time around we grabbed some caramel fudge (Mom is a sucker for Disney fudge).
And I had her buy me one of the marshmellow sticks dipped in chocolate and caramel. Mmmmmmmm.
Everything was really good - so good, in fact, we went a little overboard on our next trip - but that's for the next TR...

After stuffing ourselves in Germany, we headed back towards Future World.
The rest of the World Showcase would have to wait.
On the way back, we realized we missed our souvenir shot in the African Outpost.
So it was time to pose a bit…
Disney2011DayFour188.jpg

Disney2011DayFour187.jpg

DD found this one but it wasn’t exactly what we were looking for.
Although X loved the idea!
Disney2011DayFour189.jpg

Disney2011DayFour190.jpg

DS had some great ideas as well.
These made for awesome pics but not the representative headware we needed…
Disney2011DayFour191.jpg

Disney2011DayFour192.jpg

Then we found it!
Meet Indiana Capell!
Disney2011DayFour195.jpg

But, before we leave, check out one last detail…
Disney2011DayFour194.jpg

Mom caught up with us after lingering in Karamelle Kuche and then we headed out.
J noticed ominous clouds looming ahead.
A bit of foreshadowing for our evening…
Disney2011DayFour196.jpg

We stopped by Mexico to see Mexican Donald but he wasn’t there.
And then we rounded the World Showcase Lagoon and saw the kids’ favorite photo spot – The Duffy Gazebo!
Unfortunately the Disney Bear was not there right now either.
We took pictures anyway to capture the story of the Disney Bear.
It’s a bit small but you can probably read most of it.

Disney2011DayFour201.jpg

Disney2011DayFour202.jpg

Disney2011DayFour204.jpg

Disney2011DayFour206.jpg

Then we headed towards the Fountain of Nations.
And, of course, that means it’s Photopass Time!!

Near the Fountain of Nations, we always search out our friends in khaki.
Today was no exception.
Disney2011Photopass472.jpg

Disney2011Photopass479.jpg

Disney2011Photopass487.jpg

Disney2011Photopass491.jpg

And we always try to get the Soarin’ Magic Shot.
This time I even cropped out the magic…
Disney2011Photopass483.jpg

Disney2011Photopass504.jpg

Disney2011Photopass509.jpg

And who knew that even Tink can be Magical in Epcot…
Disney2011Photopass517.jpg

Disney2011Photopass518.jpg

One more for the road.
Disney2011Photopass514.jpg

Disney2011DayFour207.jpg

And then it was on to our private Disney VISA Meet and Greet.
We arrived and there was literally NO LINE.
We couldn’t believe it but we ran right in.
Check out the look on X’s face once he saw who was behind the curtain…
Disney2011Photopass523.jpg

Disney2011Photopass557.jpg

We love this meet and greet.
Private time with at least 2 characters.
And the little details in here are great as well.
Disney2011DayFour212.jpg

The only issue is the lighting – my camera can never get any decent shots.
You can see the orangish tint below.
Disney2011DayFour214.jpg

It’s funny that someone mentioned liking Mom’s shirt earlier.
Apparently Pluto liked it as well…
Disney2011DayFour213-1.jpg

Disney2011DayFour213-2.jpg

Now that our photo session was over, it was time for more attractions!
Any guesses where we are headed?

Holy Mega Update! :worship: Nice!

Cute ear / hat pictures, although I am not fond of the snake around your son's neck. :scared1:

That is a wonderful place for PP pics. I did not even know that was a photographer spot. GREAT shots! What a great consolation prize for not seeing Duffy.

So what WAS purchased at the Caramel Keuche (or however you spell it)?

We ended up getting some Caramel Fudge and a couple of long marshmallows on sticks dipped in chocolate and caramel.
I think I have a picture of those later on (I had them one night for snacks later on).

What a great update :thumbsup2

So many wonderful pictures! Indiana Capell, the princess with Tinkerbell and X about to run to the characters are my favorites :)

I never noticed all the details in the Visa spot background. A fun game would be to see who could identify all the movies the fastest :)

There are lot of details in there.
If you look in the corners of the pics, you can see:
the Nautilus from 20,000 Leagues Under the Sea
Stitch's Alien Costume
Lady and the Tramp's spaghetti & meatball dinner
Goofy's Hat
Mickey's Sorcerer Hat
White Rabbit's watch
Lilo & Stitch surfboard
Main Street Eletrical Parade poster
Pluto's dog bowl

Anyone know what the jewerly chest with the dagger through the heart is?

Any chance that could be something related to Snow White? :confused3 I'm thinking of the storyline on Once Upon a Time that's going on right now. No idea a good way of googling this one, though.

Yep. It's the box the woodsman is supposed to put her heart in.
