Hi ladies,

Next month I will be going on my first ever scrapbook crop. :Pinkbounc To say that I am overwhelmed is an understatement. I'm excited because two of my friends are going with me. One has been on lots of crops and one has never even done a scrapbook ( I know she will be hooked though ).

I have a cm carryall bag and the cart . I really need ideas on the best way to pack and what to pack. I also own a sizzix machine that I am taking to share with other ladies at the crop. It is a informal crop with ladies from a scrapbook board ( aprox. 30-35 women ) in our area. Some are cmc's and some are cm customer's. But it is not a cm event. We will have goody bags, t-shirts and lots of tools on hand to use. I only own 1 set of sizzix letters and 1 set of sizzlet letters. And also a few dies.

There will be the chance for some shopping at a LSS and some of the cmc 's will have some supplies on hand for purchase if needed ( but not a formal set-up ). I need a list ( yes, I am one of those people who makes list ). I'm not good at pre-planning my pages into little kits ( heck sometimes it takes me days to decide on what cardstock to use ). I have my disney pic's planned out, all my disney swap stuff and plenty of embellishments and speciality disney items. Should I even try taking any of my little stamp sets and ink pads ? Please someone give me some suggestions so that I don't end up taking the kitchen sink ( lol ). Can you tell I'm excited ? :cheer2:

I've got an actual list around here somewhere and will try to dig it up, but my best tip is to take a wire shelf type thing to put at your space. I went to several crops before I started doing this and I finally found this to be one of the most helpful things I could take. It allowed me to double the space in front of me and keep things close at hand. I also strongly suggest a cup holder/trash can holder to place on the table. These are two of my favorite tools for weekend crops. Have fun!!

Cyndi - I know you said this is difficult for you but I would strongly suggest thinking of making page kits - I find that when I prep in advance by making the kits, I actually scrap. If I just try to wing it with my layouts - I tend to spend my time chatting and shopping - not a bad choice either but a different experience.

How long is the crop - if longer than one day, will you be able to leave everything out or do you need to pack up daily?

Here's a good site to check out suggestions on what to pack and bring to weekend crops. It's pretty intensive and you can be perfectly set with much less than she suggests, but it's a great place to start and gives you lots of good ideas. Hope this helps.

Cyndi is it over night? Day crop!?!? I am so excited for you! Once you go you will be hooked for ever! I lvoe going to crops!
Here are my suggestions!

Realize if you come home with 1 layout done you did great!

now for travel I was the queen of travel scrapping till I got my space!

You need something to organize your stuff on the table top. Some ladies have brought the fold up wire shelf (target sells) they are white. It looks like you would put it behind your Kitchen sink for space.

I have a fold up blue travel holder that is wonderful it has a big pouch and small pockets on the side and it is free standing. YOu need something like this for your tape runner, pens hammer etc....

Paper: Best to have it orgainzed before hand. I use the zipper paper taker from Mike's.

I do like to have an idea what pictures I plan to work and then make sure I have most of the stuff handy.

With this being your first crop I would pack rather light because you will be busy looking at everyone's stuff, including their books!
Oh and the biggest thing to bring, beverage container with a sealed lid. Especially if you dont' have the CM cup holder!

when are you going? I can't wait!

Thanks ladies,

its a three day weekend retreat ( so I'm pretty sure I will be able to leave stuff out ). :Pinkbounc I have some mini drawers that I may take to keep my tools and adhesives and stuff in. Never would have thought of that. Thanks, I knew this was the place I needed to come to for advice. I may even take the little caddy thing I keep on top of my desk that holds all of my cm tools . Keep the tips coming. Tiger fan thanks for the link. Sondra I thought of you when I started planning to go ( actually I was wishing that you guys lived near by to go with me ) . Originally I was going by myself, I mentioned it to two of my friends and was shocked when they said they wanted to go also. I don't know any of the other people going and came close to canceling many times. I posted my fears and they all were so nice. I even found a few Disney attics. Now I'm so excited I'm bursting at the seams.

OK, here is the link to pictures of the two things I was talking about.

Desk caddy holder :

Also if you look at the corner of my desk you will see my mini iris container :

What do you all think ?

WOW three days! YOu lucky duck! I would be dancing in the streets! So where is this weekend crop? You do know they have weekend crops in Baltimore. That could be a place we could meet up!

Anyway you do need to find out how much table space you will have. Also how much space around you. Is the seating assigned? Or can you pick? If you can pick get there early don't be late!
Pick the seat on the end with a wall behind you! You usually will have the most space to stack stuff!
Gosh for three days I would have to bring the kitchen sink! I have only gone to an over night!
Don't forget SLIPPERS!!!!!!!! Want to be comfy! And of course your camera!
Oh and stock up on adhesive before you go. Especially if you use something from Mike's that way you can use our coupons.

:cool1: WOO-HOO
you didn't tell us you were going to this crop :rolleyes1

How kewl! I a know you will have a blast !
I think the idea of bringing all the related stuff - aka Disney - and getting those done will be the easiest!

When I went to my last one I found I spent to much time talking :earboy2: and eating :mickeybar and looking at everyone elses stuff :teeth: that i didn't get nearly as much actually done as I thought I would - but I did make new friends and learn new things!
Don't worry if you forget something usually everyone is sooo nice and will share there stuff!

YIPPEEE FOR YOU! :cheer2: :cheer2: :cheer2:

Three whole days, that's AWESOME!!! :teeth: I would love to go on a retreat like that. Good idea about the slippers. I usually wear mine at home when I scrapbook. Have a great time!!!

My husband had an old briefcase that opened at the top and that was the perfect place for my cutters, tools, mats, scissors, punches, etc. I had small boxes that I put the smaller items in. I put it right beside my chair and when I needed something all I had to do was reach down and get it. I just put it on top of my rolling cart to carry it in.

I use top load books, so I put my paper, pictures, etc with a paper of notes right in the page protector. This worked good for me. I took a plastic shoebox organizer and put it on the table to throw in my adhesives, pens, scissors, etc. It helped me be able to find them quickly.

Have fun!!

Cyndi you need a tackle box! I thought about this for awhile and that was one of the best investments I ever made! I got a Plano at Walmart
here is a link
http://www.cabelas.com/cabelas/en/t...Ntk=Products&returnPage=search-results1.jhtml

I swear it was the best investment! It holds most of my embellishments including fibers and eyelets my CM circle cutters, my personal trimmer, tape etc....everything and is easy to take!

You NEED ONE!!!!!!!!!!!!!
