First trip with young ones and first time in Cabins.....Help Please

Hello Everyone-

We are staying at Ft. Wilderness for the first time Jan. 30-Feb 6 with two boys 4 and 2!

My question is, Who is Kenny? It sounds like he is someone I need to contact. I assume he rents golf carts? I did call one golf cart rental place and was told that they can no longer deliver to WDW. I would really appreciate a website, contact info, and rates.

Thanks a million!

Tee Time Golf Carts (407) 276-0809

Search for Tee Time and you will find the other related threads.

Would be about $225 for the week. (Disney's would be $440).

Our check-in is the 1/30/11 and this is our first stay at the Fort, I am still up in the air about renting a cart from Kenny! I have heard all good things but could use the money for other disney fun. My girls will want to be in the parks a lot so I don't know if we will have time to cruise around and enjoy all the Fort has to offer. :upsidedow

Let me give you my opinion.
A buggy is loads of fun, BUT if the xtra $$ will help to improve your fun and stay otherwise, then I say thats why we have feet,, :thumbsup2
We bring our buggy with us,,we also do a lot of walking.
The Fort is big, but no matter where you stay, walking is not a problem, it just may take you some time. If you feel that something is a bit of a distance, , the internal system is very good and simple to use to get around.
If you plan onna lotta park time, then I wouldn't get a buggy.

I would like to say,,Ya'll are gonna LOVE the Fort,
hava GREAT time !

A cart is a luxury at the Fort. The internal bus system is fine. Ask for a cabin/site near a bus stop. My kids LOVE riding the golf cart, so even a weekend trip requires a cart. You need to plan a Fort day. The parks are great, but there's so much to do at the Fort that create amazing family memories that you won't read about on other boards or literature.

Never stayed in a cabin and I don't drink coffee, but if you do you will need coffee filters. Someone around here can tell you what type.

There are two coffee pots in the cabin, 4 cup and 12 cup, we used the 12 cup and just bought the filter packs, simple and easy clean up.
The Giddy up and Go was FANTASTIC!! We got cole slaw and mashed potatoes with gravy and just loved it. Definately should be a dinner one night, quick and easy, and enough food for everyone.
We really enjoyed the cabins and the fort even though we had some allergy issues. I think you will have a great stay. :D
Enjoy!!

Hi all....I have been looking at these forums for quite some time and finally jumped on board. My DW and I are taking 4 year old son and 1 year old daughter to stay at Cabins on 1-31-10. I have a few questions.
...Any advice with the cabins or with young kids at Disney would be welcomed. Thanks.

We had a great time in our cabin earlier this year. We had two adults and 4 kids (10, 7, 4, 1).
Here are a few thoughts about staying in the cabins with little ones:

No need to request a pack-n-play. It is in the hall closet. We brought the baby's Dora sheets from home. We fit the PNP between the bed & bunkbed by moving the nightstand to the foot of the full bed. I'll try to attach a photo if I can.

We requested a bed-rail for our 4-year-old.

We requested a high-chair for the 1 year old -- very handy.

Pack light -- closet space is minimal.

Bring plastic cups -- the glass mugs are heavy for the kids.

We brought a little stroller, with a "boogie board" attachment on the back for the 4-year-old to stand on.

Garden Grocer was great. Don't forget bottled water-- the tap water tasted funny.

For my kids, nothing says "vacation" like cereal out of those little boxes. Good for breakfast and late-night snacks after the parks.

We carried snacks with us at all times -- saved money and time spent waiting in food lines (so you can spend more time in other lines). Our 1 year old was too young for most of what we did, but she had a great time with all the snacks!

Have a wonderful time!

Great thread - lots of info! We stayed in a cabin this summer and it was AWESOME!! You're gonna love the Fort!:cloud9:

Okay, there are a lot of posts here, but here's what strikes me:

Carts: Listen to Frank - if you're doing mostly parks then save your money for something else. Internal bus system is great - also you can easily walk to Meadows if you're in loop 2100 or 2200.

Kids: Take lots of drinks/snacks to the parks - we went in July and took an insulated lunch box full of Capri Sun and individual fruit packs every day. Walmart has these handy cold packs for $1 a piece that don't take up much space and will cool something small like that just fine. Also, get lots of those travel packs of anti-bacterial handi-wipes.

Kids: Respect the naptime. There were a couple of days that our DD didn't go to sleep, but we got her comfy and in the bed to waller (did I spell that right? ;)) around for a while and relax. Totally makes the difference. Don't let you kid get tired or hungry and you should be fine. They aren't really concerned with being hot/wet/cold/dirty, etc.

Oh, there was something else. The fridge & cups - oh yes - stock up on drinks and plastic cups. The water tastes icky so get bottled water or gallon jugs. Coffee - there are two pots - I believe both use regular filters - one is a little 4 cupper, the other is regular size.

Last thing, then I'll shut up, when you are in for the night... bring in your stroller and clean it up and "reload" for the next day (except cold stuff). It'll save you some headache in the morning.
