First Trip to DLR. Need Suggestions please

I am planning a family vacation/anniversary trip to DLR this summer. I would appreciate suggestions on on-site vs. off-site stays as well as dining and additional activities away from DLR and in the San Diego area. I am not one that expects major thrills in a hotel, but want it to be clean, safe, and within walking distance to DLR if possible. Help please

What ages are your kids? Legoland is good for kids 10 and older and there is always seaworld and the zoos.
As for hotels we liked HOJO off site and DLH onsite, this time around we will be staying at the GCH. And a great place we always make sure to make it to, to eat is Mimi's cafe that is acrossed from the entrance of DL. Very good muffins and meals!

I have a teenagers, so height requirements don't apply.

If we do not stay at Paradise Pier then we stay at Best Western Park Place Inn and Suites.

As for other things to do there is Universal Studios, Magic Mountain, Knotts Berry Farms, San Diego Zoo, Sea World

Have you read, the DLR guide for WDW vets?

Blue Bayou is an excellent dining experience inside DL in the PTOC attraction.
Napa Rose in the Grand Californian is the premier location in the resort.
Lots of options in DTD.
There are places on Harbor as well, Denny's, McDonalds and several other places well within walking distance from the gates.

Um... I'm guessing your mean 10 and younger, DS loved it the 1st time but at 9 he was underwhelmed and my boy loves Legos.

I meant DS 15 DS 16 for ages. Growing and hungry at all times. Good food is a must for them and luckily they love to try new things and are not picky eaters

You might want to do the Big Thunder Ranch BBQ. It's outdoor, picnic style, and all you care to eat.

I would enjoy a beach or two in San Diego. Don't be put off by the "june gloom." Unless you live on the coast already. My favorite places to eat are in Del Mar. Love walking the beach there too.
