I just booked a trip to DLR, staying at the PPH 9/9/09 to 9/13/09. :cool1: I'm a pro at WDW since I go a couple of times a year, but don't know anything about DLR. :goodvibes

Please give me your favorite tips and tricks to doing DLR in 2 1/2 days. :thumbsup2

You'll find no better advice anywhere than Hydroguy's extensive tips.

A DLR Guide for WDW Vets

Ditto on this advice!! Alot of reading, but well worth it. After you have read some, come back and you can start asking some specific questions. We are a very friendly group of people over here, and would love to answer your questions.

One of the first things you will notice is the quaintness and intimacy of DL. Sleeping Beauty's castle is small, so be prepared.:upsidedow The Matterhorn is DL's focal point. As a child that was my lookout point.
Even though DL is smaller compared to the MK in Florida, there are more rides, as you will read about from Hydroguy. Fantasyland and Toontown are more themed, and have more to do. I could go on.

Park hopping is a breeze. From one park to the next, it might take about 2 minutes to walk from each other.

From your Hotel PP, you will walk to the parks through DTD, which I always enjoy. Gets me in the mood. After you walk through the security gates, you can turn right into Califonia Adventures, or turn left and go to DL. Easy peasy!

Alright........I guess I will stop there.

Have fun planning!!! :goodvibes

By the way........Welcome to the DL boards!! :wave2: :welcome: :wave2:

Thanks for the info GrandBob and tinkermell!
Any shortcuts I should know about when getting from PPH to the parks?

22 more days and counting!!!!
I'm actually going to Las Vegas for 4 nights before I head to DL, so my vacation actually starts in 18 days! Woohoo!:cool1:
Here's hoping I win big in Vegas so I can upgrade to concierge at PPH! :worship:

Yes there are shortcuts you can take. Across the street from Paradise Pier is the Grand Californian. You may go that direction, and into their lobby. From there, you can either exit into DTD towards DL, or exit out the rear of the hotel, straight into California Adventures. :cool1: Seeing that you are staying at onsite property, you may enter those gates first thing in the morning, if you have your hotel key with you. DCA (Disneyland Calif Adven.) opens up early at 9:30 just for Soarin over Calif. The rest of the park will not open until 10:00 usually. (This is based on the 10:00 opening.) Anyways, after you enter the park, you can head right and line up for Midway Mania's 10:00 opening, or go left and get on Soarin right away.

The Grand Calif has one of my favorite breakfast places called White Water Snacks. They have great biscuit sandwiches and breakfast burritos along with other good things to munch on. It is right near the entrance to DCA, so it makes it a good location to grab your eats before entering the park.
Now if you are walking down DTD towards DL from the Grand, the La Brea Bakery has some good stuff for breakfast too. It is just before you enter the security gates. If you are into the park, on the left on Main Street, is the Blue Ribbon Bakery with coffee and sweetrolls, and Matterhorn Macaroons to die for. Plus alot of other yummy goodies. At the Riverbelle Terrace by the Rivers of America, you can get Mickey Pancakes, and over at Tomorrowland Terrace they have good breakfasts too.

Now I have given you my favs just for breakfast. I know lots of others here have their favorites too.

If you are interested I will pass along my choices for snacks and food food.

Did you read Hydroguys stickeys yet?

Thanks tinkermell!!!! Just the kind of info I'm interested in.:thumbsup2

Hydroguy had lots of good info too!:woohoo:

Snacks and other meal favorites would be greatly appreciated.:worship:

The one thing I have found out, that makes me rather sad, is that the Story Book ride will be closed while I am there. Since they don't have this at WDW, I was really looking forward to it. Oh well, a good excuse to visit DL again. ;)

Don't forget to try a Monte Cristo! Its sooo romantic to eat it in the BB, also try the Pommita Fries! Yummy!

Other great snacks to try- Dole Whips, and Tigger Tails! Not sure if they have that at WDW. Crap now I am craving for one again! :rotfl:

Have fun!

Here is another list of places to eat that are my favorite.

At DL:
Cafe Orleans- Monte Cristo, Pomme Frites, and Mickey Beignets. Salad with the Salmon.
Bengal BBQ- Bacon Wrapped Asparagus
Red Wagon- Corn Dogs, the best you will ever have!
Dole Whips- At Tiki Room, which is the original that has not been updated.
Churros- vending carts
Apple Pie Caramel Apple- Candy Palace and Pooh's Corner.
Pizza Port- Pasta and salads
Riverbelle Terrace[/B]- discovered a new salad last time there. Harvest Medley. Had lots of goodies on it.
Caration Cafe- Loaded Potato Soup. Ask to see Oscar. He is the chef who has been at DL almost since it started. He will even give you a signed copy of his famous potato soup if possible.
Rancho del Zocalo- Mexican, fairly good and big portions

DCA:

Wine Country Trattoria- Pizzatta Salad. Wine. Try the sparkling wine made just for Disney. It's called Magicale.
Pacific Wharf Cafe- Soups bowls and sandwiches with sourdough bread made right there.
Catch a Flav- soft serve ice-cream swirled with all kinds of different flavors. Orange is my fav. Like a cream-sicle.
Corn Dogs- same great corn dogs. They have moved them temporarily to another spot. I forgot where. But they are around somewhere.:rolleyes1
Taste Pilot's Grill- Hamburgers with all the fixins.
Burrbank Ice Cream- Cones, Sundaes, Shakes

Ok, that should do it for now. Others should pipe in their favorites.

Corn Dogs- same great corn dogs. They have moved them temporarily to another spot. I forgot where. But they are around somewhere.:rolleyes1
Taste Pilot's Grill- Hamburgers with all the fixins.

the Corn Dogs are at the place that serves funnel cakes across the plaza from the Wine country and before the warf, can't remember the name.

Taste pilots is as good as burgers get at DL but their fixings don't come even close to Pecos Bills at WDW.
