First trip to DL

We finally booked our trip for Late April beginning of May. I'll be traveling with my DH, 3 yr old DS and 80 yr old DM, whose birthday we will be celebrating. We will be staying at the DL hotel. Any suggestions for restraurants or birthday celebrations. Actually any suggestions at all to make this a Dream vacation for all!! Thank you for your help!!!

First, get the button @ Guest Relations. Also, check out http://disneyland.disney.go.com/dis...cialOccasions/detail?name=BirthdaysDetailPage. Imagine your DM would love to see DS make a cake for her birthday. Even if she doesn't eat a cake at the celebration, is still fun with kids (and childish adults ).

Definitely do a character breakfast -- see the other thread about the Lilo and Stitch one or there is one at Goofy's Kitchen in your hotel (or in the park at Plaza Inn).

And don't forget to go to City Hall at DL! You can do this when yo get your b-day button or later in the day go to the counter and you get a special phone call from Goofy (at least it was last time we did it) telling you happy birthday. Its free and its fun!

Staying at the Disneyland Hotel, you'll likely be able to get the birthday button from them. We got anniversary buttons at check-in at Paradise Pier, after they asked us if we were celebrating anything during our stay and we told them.

I went with my DH in Sept. for my birthday. Picked up a birthday button at City Hall. It was fun to have all the CM's wish me a happy birthday. Didn't know about the phone call, though, that would have been fun. Also, one of the CM's asked me the next day (wasn't wearing my button) if I was celebrating anything and asked why I didn't have a button. I told her I did, but wore it the day before, she said I should have just worn my birthday button the entire time since it was my birthday trip.
Moral of the story, if you will be at DL celebrating the birthday for several days, WEAR the BUTTON. It is really fun.
