We just returned from our first trip to the Boardwalk Villas (5/13 to 5/17). We stayed in a standard view studio, room 4008.

First off, WOW! :earseek: What a long walk from the room to the elevators/lobby! I guess if they're going to have hallways that long, it's good that they're air conditioned. (Yes, SSR is my home resort. And I like enclosed, air conditioned hallways just as much as the next person, but if I can save a few dollars on my yearly dues by not having to maintain the temperature and carpet in the lobby and save a few extra steps walking to my room at the end of a very long day, I'm all for it.)

On the plus side, for a standard view room, we had a very nice view of the causeway and a newly installed grassy area just below our balcony. The room was very clean and well maintained except for a very, very, very slow draining tub.

The kids and I really enjoyed the Luna Park pool. What a great slide! :cool1: We did find the pool water to be a little on the warm side. Thought it might just be me, but another person in the pool actually said the same thing before I could get the words out.

All in all, we enjoyed our vacation, as short as it was. I'm sure we'll return to BWV in the future.

I guess I've stayed in too many hotels for too many years...but I haven't found the hallways at BWV to be daunting in length at all during our stays. As has been pointed out, one of the nice benefits of being that far down the hall is that you are that much closer of a walk to MGM Studios. :)

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip. Thanks for posting your impressions. :)

Ive never stayed at the BWV, but, have preferred studio ressies for Sept.

Im having mobility problems and have an ECV rental scheduled too. Didn't ask for a HA room...thought I'd let the people who really need it have it available.

So...how long is long..if the building is "that" long...are there 2 elevators? One at each end?

There are 3 elevators just off the lobby. The rooms then branch off into two main hallways.

I don't know the exact distance from the elevator to our room, but if you are familiar with the Boardwark Villas, our room was almost all the way down to Jellyrolls. (Incidentally, since we were on that end, we were that much further away from MGM).

It certainly wouldn't keep me from staying at BWV again.

IMHO folks complain about it because it's all inside and looks so long. However, I think that walks from the lobby at BCV and WLV can be just as long, if not longer, then at BWV, it's just that it's broken up with a segment outside.

Oops! I didn't realize those rooms down there were still SV rooms! So much for "closer to MGM"! :(

I'm glad you enjoyed your trip and BWV in general.

RAD....I think you make a good point about distance perceptions. Of course, we're missing Richyams terribly for his input on the long hallways at BWV! :rotfl2:

If you don't mind taking a HA room--PLEASE take it....the vast majority of complaints on these boards relate to people being "stuck" with these rooms when they check in because that is all that is left....in fact I have never yet seen a post on these boards about someone needing a HA room and not getting one...so do those of us who really don't want a HA room a favor and take one if you don't mind having those rooms...

We have stayed at the BWV a number of times, and several of our rooms have been in the farthest part of the resort. The good thing about that is you have easy access to the bus stop and the walkway to MGM. I don't find the corridors that long, but pre-DVC we used to stay at the YC! Those are some loooong corridors ;)

Buzz's Buddy, you would like some of Richyams old threads. He used to talk all about those loooooooong hallways at BWV.

I was in room 2006, so just a door down and 2 floors down from you....and I thought the view for a standard view was INCREDIBLE!!!! I kinda had to force myself upon them insofar as these rooms being designated 'standard'.

Yes, they were almost the full distance down the wing BUT there was a door at the end leading out by the bridge to the Dolphin, and I used that a lot when I needed to get outside to walk (not use the valet parking.)

I'd take that long walk for such a great view ANYTIME.

I agree, the view from our room was great, certainly not what I expected when we booked a standard view room. My in-laws were in room 4079, which overlooked the front entranceway and the parking lot, so we definitely got the better end of that deal.

Just how long is the walk? Well, I was bored enough to make an estimate:

Looks like just over 1/10th of a mile from either end, as measured off this satellite photo.

someone actually clocked it with their GPS once. was it CaskBill? i can't remember, maybe it was Doc?

There is no such thing as pool water being too warm. :)

By the way, I'm pretty sure your room and others around it will be moved back to preferred view once all the construction is done since it is now a nice water view. I had read that they were originally set up as preferred. It will be interesting to see if they do get switched. It would be great if they weren't.

So lets see. Your a slow walker, going 2 MPH, the distance is .1 miles, thus 3 minutes of walking. Go 3 MPH, then you get 2 minutes. Funny, doesn't see like the 10-15 minutes some people liked to describe the walk as. :)

The BWV rooms are way too small...the walks are way too long especially the standard view rooms...the pool is too creepy...the staff are cold, the parking is a disaster---stay away from the BWV..do not book your rooms there- you will not like it. Don't even try it.
