My boyfriend and I are planning our first trip to Disneyland in Feburary. Any suggestions on what to do and see in 2 day trip? We are looking to unleash our inner child during the day at the parks and wind down in the evenings in downtown Disney with a cocktail.

A cocktail at the Alfresco Lounge in DCA.

Will you be there on a weekend, Fri-Sun? I would try to take in WoC in DCA, and F! and RDCT in DL.

Other than that, do you want Nostagic, classic attractions, or more big kid rides?

Must do's for a first trip:

- Walk down Main Street
- Pirates of the Caribbean
- Haunted Mansion
- Matterhorn Bobsleds
- Mad Tea Party
- Mr Toad's Wild Ride and/or Peter Pan
- Enchanted Tiki Room
- Jungle Cruise
- Disneyland Railroad round trip

Just off the top of my head...

My 'must do' rides/attractions are:

DISNEYLAND

New Orleans Square:

  1. Pirates of the Caribbean
  2. Haunted Mansion

Frontierland:

  1. Big Thunder Mountain Railroad (roller coaster)
  2. Sailing Ship Columbia
  3. Mark Twain Riverboat
  4. Pirate's Lair on Tom Sawyer's Island

Fantasyland:

  1. Peter Pan's Flight
  2. Mr. Toad's Wild Ride
  3. Mad Tea Party (spinning tea cups)
  4. It's a Small World
  5. Matterhorn Bobsleds (roller coaster)
  6. Storybook Land Canal Boats

Adventureland:

  1. Indiana Jones Adventure: Temple of the Forbidden Eye
  2. Walt Disney's Enchanted Tiki Room (you cannot pass this up! It's so much fun!)
  3. Jungle Cruise

Tomorrowland:

  1. Space Mountain
  2. Buzz Lightyear Astro Blasters
  3. Autopia
  4. Disneyland Railroad
  5. Innoventions (go there, and hopefully ASIMO is still there! You gotta see ASIMO)
  6. Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage

Critter Country:

  1. Splash Mountain (just remember to duck down at the top of the big hill and you won't get too wet... or wear a poncho...)
  2. The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh

Mickey's Toontown:

  1. Mickey's House & Meet Mickey
  2. Minnie's House
  3. Goofy's Playhouse
  4. Donald's Boat
  5. Roger Rabbit's Car Toon Spin
  6. Gadget's Go Coaster

California Adventures

A Bug's Land:
  1. It's Tough To Be a Bug (3D movie)

Golden State:

  1. Grizzly River Run (Bring a Pancho! You *will* get wet without one, my friend got *soaked*. I wore a pancho, then pulled my legs up onto the center thingie where you zip your bags in to keep them dry, and when you buckle in, move the poncho out of the way, so the poncho isn't buckled in too, and then pull it down over your legs! I was also wearing a baseball cap and that seemed to help keep the poncho hood on my head.)
  2. Soarin' Over California

Hollywood Pictures Backlot:

  1. Animation Academy (so much fun, even if you can't draw, you'll be able to draw a few things after this!)
  2. Muppet Vision 3D
  3. Turtle Talk with Crush
  4. Twilight Zone Tower of Terror (so much fun!)
  5. Hyperion Theatre: Aladin (Must See Broadway like show)

Paradise Pier:

  1. California Screamin' (roller coaster)
  2. Mickey's Fun Wheel (formally Sun Wheel - farris wheel with swinging & stationary gondolas)
  3. Silly Symphony Swings (formally Orange Stinger)

And on Mark Twain, if you really want to unleash your inner child, ask to ride with the captain!!

wow, thank you for such a detailed recommendation captsparrowslady--we will for sure keep all in mind! i'm not quite familiar with the "disney lingo" yet could you decode what "DCA, WoC, and RDCT" means.

DCA = Disney California Adventure (also sometimes written as CA)

WOC = World of Color

RDCT = Remember Dreams Come True (Fireworks)

Enjoy a corn dog or a Dole whip (or heck, have both :thumbsup2). You can also get a cocktail at Cove Bar in DCA (along with some lobster nachos!). Relax in the lobby of the Grand Californian in front of the fire, or go for a drink at the Napa Lounge.
