We just returned from our first trip home, a week at OKW (Bldg 13). We loved it. I don't know how many times my wife turned to me and exclaimed (sic) "We did good!"
The 2 BR was more than what we expected and it managed to house me, my wife and six teens...not an easy task! We had a bad mix of males/females that kept us from sleeping 4 in the double bedroom - males alternated on the love seat - ouch!
Rented a minivan for $199/week from Dollar. If everything else is equal, choose them because they are on-site at MCO.
We stocked the fridge after a trip to the Super Walmart on the Sunday before Memorial Day - a major mistake. That was the most hectic shopping spree that either of us have ever experienced. For follow-up items, we tried Goodings - nice store but the 7-11 prices are tough to stomach. I think we'll try the Winn Dixie or Publix next time.
Transportation to/from the parks & Downtown Disney was great. Our normal wait was under 10 minutes although we did get have to wait 30 minutes at DD - the boat was not running due to the inclement weather on Thursday night.
Visisted AK for the first time - really enjoyed it although it was crowded due to being Memorial Day. MK was great as usual (although we were quite surprised that it closes at 7 pm? Didn't there used to be fireworks?) Loved the "Illuminations" at Epcot - not that impressed with Fantazmic at MGM. Did enjoy the Tower of Terror.
Universal was less crowded and the adults liked the studio park. The teens were partial to Adventure Island.
All in all, a great trip. Probably too many theme park visits and not enough lounging around the resort but live and learn. No fights (unusual at this age) and everyone enjoyed themselves immensely.
Next trip at Thanksgiving (only our three teens this time - no friends!) as long as SW comes through with attractive airfare.
We appreciate all of the input from this board - it is truly a great service.
