This was my first trip to Disney and also my children's first trip. My oldest is 16 so that may give you an idea about my age. My other two are ages 4 & 5. We went in June and stayed off Disney. This was fine for us because there were other things we wanted to do in Florida - see friends in Daytona, etc.
We had a great time. My daughters got to see lots & lots of Princesses so they were happy. At Ohana for breakfast they walked in the parade and the 5 y/o got to hold hands with Mickey during the parade - nothing could have been better for her! (I have to admit, I think I was a little bit jealous, but thrilled to see her so happy.) Peter Pan came up to her during the lights parade and talked to her... again she was on
We saw so much I can't even remember everything we saw! Is this a common thing for first timers????
I do have to talk about one terrifying, almost vacation ruining moment. We had a late dinner (on our first night) in Epcot and were leaving around 10:30 at night. Now, understand, it is hard for a person to figure out where they are and how to get out when it is your first visit and it is dark! We were walking along and I set my things down to take a picture. By things, I mean my purse - ID, credit cards, and all of our cash. I managed to pick up everything, but somehow missed my purse. (black purse at night, may have something to do with it) I didn't realize I didn't have my purse until we were almost at the gate.
I try to retrace my steps as my husband tries to find where we report these things. Again, me -a person on their first visit at night- I can hardly figure out where I just came from. Employees are stopping to ask if I need something, I am in hysterics..... You can get the picture. Finally, I go back to find my husband and he tries to retrace our steps. I go into the customer service station so I can fill out the paperwork. I start filling out the paperwork and one of the employees peeks her head around the corner, "hold on a minute, there was a purse found, I can't guarantee it is yours, but lets wait and see". I cross my figures, say a prayer, etc... Low and behold her comes a manager walking through the door holding my purse!!!
All items still in it. Apparently, the employee that found it was hearing impaired so he could not radio back that he found the purse, he had to find a manager to report it. We asked if we could leave him a gratuity, but could not. Instead we wrote a report while there to be placed in his file and again came back and e-mailed a thank you. To our surprise at the end of our vacation when we returned home, there was a message from Disney thanking us for the nice report we left. A potentially ruined vacation saved!
Anyway, thanks for reading. I hope to post many, many more times (just not so long!) I'm glad I found this site, perhaps next time I won't have to call my friends for Disney advice (over and over again).
Have a great day!
